Got my Stiffy installed today. Having never had the grab rack or rear cowlings off before let me say "that was an experience". My advice: MAKE SURE YOU READ THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING! They say something about some minor filing if the bolts don't fit. Not mine- I filed and filed and filed to get one to fit thru the bracket then said the hell with it and drilled the other bracket for the bolt to fit. And thinking ahead, I drilled out (just a little) holes in the arms the brackets fasten to. But, not thinking, I attempted to install it. Bolts for the grab rack wouldn't fit. So off it came and I drilled those out too. Then it was easy-peasy. And yes, I attempted to loosely install all the bolts for the Stiffy and grab rack before tightening any of them. I just could not in any shape or form, get them all to start until I drill out a little all the holes. So my advice, again, read the instructions. And file/ream/drill out ALL the holes prior to attempted installation.
