That boy is riding hard. Made it to Carrizozo today. Pretty good storm blew through there, I hope he didn't have to ride though that.

From Jim, "Yep, Bar any breakdowns I Hope to be looking at the border Wednesday afternoon!! Woohoo!"

You know you have been on the bike for a long time when you feel like you have won the lotto because your KOA campground pool.

"Jim's Great Divide continues! As you all know New Mexico has been a tough one! Hot, hot, hot! But he got a second wind and Monday rode 96 miles ending in Carrizozo! Leaving as early as he can to beat the heat he was still riding in over 100 degree temperatures! Ran across a rattler snake, got into town and got a hotel room, probably really needed a shower-it was a good call as a storm rolled through that night.

Tuesday it is, up and Adam, he was peddling by 6 am! He was excited (or relieved) that his next destination was a mere 68 miles! Rolled into Alamogordo about 1:00, set up camp at the good old K.O.A. Really? Is that a pool? Yes a pool! Got his hair cut, grabbed a bag of ice, stuffed a bottle of wine in it and headed to the pool.....Spa day!!!

Wednesday! Wakey wakey eggs and bakey.!!! 97 mile day! Starts early, pretty cool until about 10:00 AM, creeping towards 90! Finds a restaurant along the way, goes in for an early lunch. Waitress brought him a water, and asked if he wanted anything else to drink, he said lemonade please, she proceeded to bring him a lemonade only to find the water empty, brought him water only to find the lemonade empty.....that went on for 6 rounds!!! Rehydrated he hit the road again! At 2:30 after riding his bike for 4 weeks and 5 days, from Banff Canada, he rode through El Paso, right up to the Mexican boarder......he made it!

Accomplished the amazing goal that he set out for! What an amazing feat for such an amazing man! He called me from the boarder, the first words out of his mouth were: "Thank you Julie for all your support and encouragement, you are such a great friend, I couldn't of done it with out you" ! Trying not to cry at work:) He Got a hotel, put the bike to bed (literally) and headed out, on foot mind you, for margarita's and tacos. Then I'm sure went back to the hotel and slept like a rock!

This morning he rented a car, drove to Albuquerque, broke down his bike to ship her home. It just so happens that our friends Kim and Jay flew into Albuquerque today for their summer vacation. So Jim is meeting them and driving to Taos to spend tonight and Friday night for some much needed R&R or E&D (eating and drinking)! He flies home on Saturday!"

Dave, thanks for providing updates on my trip! I had a great time.

First learned of the route through a friend who rode it on an enduro

Figured I'd ride it on a bicycle. Did see a number of number of enduro riders doing it, both directions. Mostly 650's.

Someday...
