Took the day off yesterday and finally put a few miles on the bike with these pegs, some of it on the slab. And the verdict is... Faggetaboudit. They are much too high. Bah! I had wanted this location to work, both for me, and also it would be so easy for others to replicate. But while the pegs felt fine sitting in the driveway with a pair of jeans and boat shoes on, with all my riding gear it was much too high to be comfortable. They will be coming off today and the fancy sliders going back on. At least I didn't do anything irreversible to the bars, and the gifted pegs were free. Sorry for setting up any false hopes. I should have checked it out on a ride before reporting on it. Now to resume the search for a highway peg solution that clamps on or... something.
