Well.... some interesting, happy test news.

Today was the first run-in of the Yoshimura Alpha-T 3/4 setup, along with proper size Dunlop RoadSmarts, and a 41-tooth rear SuperLite sprocket. A very quick road trip indicates I am now up in the 33-mpg range. Not quite as stellar as I was hoping for, but I'll take it! It's a damn sight better than the 28-29 I was seeing previously.

Even if I can't improved this 33mpg any further, that's still about a 247-mile range before the low-fuel light illuminates. I should be able to make that work!

It is a pinch louder than I anticipated it was going to be, but it is not "loud" loud by any means, certainly not to the point it's obnoxious. It's really more of a deeper tone, due to the cross-plane motor. I do have the dB Killer insert installed, oh, yes. And I'll be leaving it in there for the duration, too. I can hear the motor up to about 50-55-ish mph, then wind noise overtakes it and it's not a concerned anymore.

Latest little farkle: this is the SYKiK TPMS. I've had one on the Tracer since the get-go. A TPMS a critical item when carrying wifey. Wish we had it when we the FJR's rear tire deflated and un-beaded itself, at speed, in July 2019, during an intense Montana rainstorm. Big believer in these TPMS systems now.

What made you choose that particular brand? Any better or worse than any other? How's viewing the LCD in strong sunlight?

With aux fuel. 4.5-gallon stock plus 4.3-gallon means the low Fuel Light is illuminating after 7.5 gallons - likely around at the 240-250 mile point.

It is quite similar to other Chinese brands, I've seen the users manual for a couple of them - seems mostly all the same. The SYKiK units I have seen in action on my Tracer for two years, it is surprisingly accurate Show up well in bright sunlight - it is a color LCD readout. It does a good job.

Same one I have on my fjr. Cheap and easy to read, even in sun.

It does have an audible beep alarm - but fat lot of good it does underway with helmet on! The bluetooth is for temps and pressures only, nothing to the helmet that I recall seeing in its manual. Still a nice little unit for the relatively inexpensive price. The kit comes with this nifty mounting hardware that I am using on the brake reservoir - no wires make for a nice, clean install.

Dale, what model is your TPMS? On their website I see an SRTP300 which uses stem mounted sensor caps and a SRTP400 with internal sensors. Neither appears to come with the mount in your picture. My Orange systems appears to have a failed sensor. Thx!

edit: I see they sell the mount as a separate item. Still curious if you use the internal or stem mounted sensors.

The information stated below is not entirely correct. See later post #101 for clarification.

I once ordered the SRTP400 internal sensors and found the part of the stem that passes through the wheel to be much smaller diameter than the stem hole in the wheel. The only seal was an "O-ring" that was designed to seal against the outside surface of the wheel and the too small stem meant that it was not securely centered in the hole which kept the "O-ring" from sealing. I wanted to like them but thought they would fail to seal properly. Sent them back.

They offer both 8mm and 11mm stem sizes for internal sensors; you probably got the 8mm...

You need to install metal valve stems. I installed metal "T" valve stems so you don't have to remove the cap to adjust pressure.

These are cap sensors. I stopped looking at internals sensors because eventually, they will get ruined during a tire-changing exercise.

I've ran the metal T stems for quite awhile, rims that use to balance easily now take a lot more weight.
