Hi. I've been a member for some time but am finally getting around to posting information about my 2006 FJR on the registry. I bought my FJR 1300A in 2009 from a guy in Phoenix. I live in University Place, WA, near Tacoma. I loved the FJR color in 2006 - Yamaha calls it "Deep purplish blue metallic."
The bike had 5500 miles when I had it shipped to me in June 2009. I was too busy at work to get time off to fly to Phoenix and ride the 1500 miles home. I really wanted to. I learned about the FJR from a motorcycle racing friend who had a 2006 with 75,000 miles. He let me borrow his for a few days and I really like it. I had Harley/BMW buddies I rode with on week-long summer trips - to Canada, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and other locations. Sometimes we covered 2,200 miles on a trip.
My 06 now has 25,000 miles - just getting broken in. I love the smooth running 145 hp motor and love how she handles and corners. The twisting roads are really fun and I love taking her into the tight corners. I owned a Harley Sportster before the FJR and there is no comparison. My FJR is smooth and responsive. Instant power if needed. She's a lot of fun.
My riding buddies are getting older now and our group has ended. I'm looking for a Seattle area FJR owner to ride with sometimes. Let me know if you're interested.
My FJR is totally stock, touring and regular windshield, only option is bar risers. Wired for heated gear on colder days. Enjoy your ride! See photos of my FJR loaded in Canada and on other trips. Dan Small
