You may have seen a thread floating about called the "Million Mile Challenge." If you haven't bothered to check it out, it's a log of our FJR riding in 2008. Anyone can play . . . It's not an Iron Butt thing. All you have to do is log your miles ridden. Ad a bit of a write up if you like. The whole idea is to cheer each other along. If you decide to join DO NOT POST HERE! I just posted in the original thread, and joined the thundering herd. I will end up in the middle of the pack, since I live in the Midwest, and this past winter was never ending. Only 36 degree on the ride in this morning as a matter of fact.

Thanks for the update mate, our bike season is really just starting here in the Great White North, so hopefully I can climb the leader board... but don't think i'll catch FJRobert unless he parks for the rest of the summer.

5,200 miles is worth roughly; $500 in gas, $60 in oil and filters, $450+ in tires, $600 for misc new/improved farkles, $500 in insurance and reg fees and, thankfully, no additional road use taxes. Total approx. expenditure for the period: $2,110.00

Now, for the car, given the same amount of travel; $700 for gas, $450 for insurance and reg. Total approx. expenditure for the period: $1150.00

Someone remind me again why riding a motorcycle is suppose to be cheaper than driving a car?
