I bought a 3008 fjr. I ju st got title back and it has the model listed as a FA3. They also got the odometer reading wrong. It is not the clutch less model. What would be correct model designator and is it located on the bike anywhere?

I am confused.

A 3008? FA3 does not mean anything to me either. The AE version is not "clutchless", it has a clutch but it is electrically actuated.

If you have a 2008 with the conventional clutch it would be designated as 2008A.

Well, since you're not telling us where you live, sex, or chose what model FJR you have when you signed up...it makes the "3008" thing even harder to divine. What I've included was this handy-dandy FJR Model Comparison Matrix for North American models.

As outstanding as Iggy's matrix is, it does not include the model designator codes that Yamaha uses for administrative and identifying reasons. The following link is a long dead project I started years ago and has the model designators for the FJR from 2003-2011.

Any objection to me trying to integrate it into the spreadsheet?

Edit: Actually I remember and see that I did integrate some of it...in around 2008 or so...kinda remember a conversation.....but need to update it for later years. It will be about the 11th row down. Again, hoping no objection skoot?

I'm glad they made this new 3008 model clutchless. I couldn't even imagine trying to fly that thing while attempting to squeeze a clutch lever. So, let me see, do I use the center stand, the side stand, or just stand it up in the garage? And where am I supposed to mount my car tire? After all, I've got my rep...

Oh, and Mark,

I'll expect to see you in class right after school to talk about the importance of double checking your work before submitting it.

I did that some time ago. Comparing EU models codes with US codes...

You find it here (never mind the 'language') I think it is self-explanatory...

The OP could be from Europe (or somewhere else) and the model designation for him if he has an autoshift version could well have been 'AS' . . . . .

Strangely, in the online parts catalog Yamaha Canada has my ES defined as an ESE, but needs to be selected an AE . . . . the AE is selected as an AEV for 2006 and as an AS for 2007-2009.

Go figure.
