Playing with Bing maps last night anf found 4 possible rides in the area. Covers a range of distances, from just a couple hours to 7+ hours. I'm sure there are more options for folks, but wanted to share these and get a thread going for reference.

OK, I did the ride above today. Took about 4.5 hours with a nice stop for lunch in Kaslo. It's an amazing ride (I was one up) with LOTS of twists and turns, some tight, some sweeping. You are almost always following a river or a lake, so the views are often dramatic. between nelson and Castlegar alocal rider told me to watch for police as they partol that stretch. Saw a single deer today, and met a couple who'd seen a bear on their ride today. So, if you were thinking of leaving food anywhere on your bike, bette rrethink that idea. ;) This ride was simply amazing.

Update - rode this with a modification after the ferry today. Instead of going left and back to Castlegar after the ferry, we went right, up to Kaslo for lunch, then over to New Denver and back to Castlegar. Awesome ride. Frost heaves in some places, and some loose gravel in others, but overall, excellent day's ride today!

I have ridden 2/4 these, so road conditions are unknown on the other two. I expect passes would be open as the two I crossed yesterday were well clear of snow now, still, yrmv...
