I remember my first trip to Kirkland back in the 70s. Heading toward the Seattle area from Portland (previous gas stop), I saw signs to that place and spent considerable time pondering its pronunciation.  I finally concluded it would be along the lines of, "Pull y'all up" (as in, "come over here and I'll help pull y'all up").

Different tribal indian names than where I grew up.

Yup. I was "schooled" when I reached campus in Kirkland... back before M$ moved to the area. You know... back when Dr. Pepper used to sponsor free ski nights at Snoqualmie Pass.
