New Member, former and potentially returning owner

Hello everyone,

After 31 years of motorcycling, I reflect on the few bikes I've owned, which I should not have departed with; the FJR being one of them.  After a recent 20K mile stint with a 2016 FJ-09, I moved to a 2018 KTM 1090 Adventure R.  Life has impacted my riding more than I care to tolerate, and I have been pondering the purchase of a used FJR.  I stumbled across Nick Ienatsch's article entitled A Used-Bike Habit for Lifelong Safety (https://www.cycleworld.com/story/blogs/ienatsch-tuesday/used-bike-habit-for-lifelong-safety/) and found myself reminiscing about past experiences with my cobalt blue 2005 FJR.  What little spare time I do have is now consumed with an FJR scavenger hunt on Craigslist or Cycletrader to see what is out there for potential adoption in 2021.  Now that I have a place to store two motorcycles, I can justify owning more than one.

I look forward to future conversations and know the knowledge base provided by enthusiastic members is much appreciated.

Best of luck. I've not had as many bikes as many others have but I've had a big mix and the FJR is certain one of the top ones.

The new site update? is sending me notifications so I thought I would update the thread. Drum roll please.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ... ... .. . . . 2020 BMW R1250RT White. Dealer demo w/ every bell and whistle, 1350 miles, $6000.00 markdown from new. What a machine. Not the gently loved FJR I was searching for but without a doubt a worthy substitute. I managed to accumulate 4K miles in the first 3 months of ownership earlier this year. So much fun hot-rodding around on a GT-style bike again.
