This guy was testing a 2007 model. Wow!

I wonder where he got the 500 rpm reduction at 70 mph? That would correspond to >10% higher gearing than last year. I've seen the 500 rpm value in other articles. This misinformation is repeated again and again.

On my '04, 70 speedo mph occurs at about 3900 rpm.

3900 x (36/37) = 3795 rpm

A reduction of 105 rpm.

This is true. MOM says so. The underseat label specs 91 ROM, which is the Euro standard for octane ratings. This equates to 86 or 87 octane using (R+M)/2, typically used here Stateside.

I actually made note of [the bike width] just as I side-swiped a fellow journo with my usual CA shunt to the head of the traffic light queue habit.

The scary part is that there are people out there who read this and their other stuff and go out and thing it's clever to ride like they report.

 
Is nice to read the review from the ol' veteran sports tourer who

has been on the iron butt several times, but it's also nice to read

what a "squid" (some might consider) has to say. It's always nice

to get a different perspective. :)
