Excellent ride report!

You my friend are a kindred spirit! Yes, a kindred spirit indeed! Great tour and great pictures, loved every single one of them! I rode through a portion of the SW this June, although my trip and my pictures are nowhere near as fun as yours. You seem to have the perfect riding partner. I was with the wrong riding partner, the jaded stop for nothing IBA type, who at points ridiculed me and at other points guilted me for stopping to take pictures or 'Rocks' that I won't remember taking a picture of... sigh...

What a WONDERFUL ride report. I've bookmarked this as a good reference for my own trip coming up in September. I figured I would need 5-6 days in Utah and you have pretty much solidified my thinking. I plan to do a bit more hiking than you did (Angel's Landing and the Narrows for example).

I'm guessing that cell service was pretty much non-existent between cities/villages? There's a decent chance I will be by myself.

Finally - maybe it's time to look for a replacement for my old Canon Sureshot 8mp SLR boat anchor on this trip. I need something relatively small and lightweight - Gonna set it to Auto and hope for the best. I won't be able to use an expensive camera body with a telescope on it. Any suggestions for me?

Wow. This is how I would do my Ride Reports if I had better camera skills and better writing skills and if I had a riding partner. This was Truly Excellent Stuff. This is the type of RR that needs to be pinned at the top to be used a reference for what to do and see in that area.

I am so pleased that many of your opinions matched mine, and so pleased that I was able to help you just a little bit.

Lower Antelope Canyon was impossible to describe and your pics are soooo much better than mine were. At least you had sunlight, it was cloudy and overcast both times I went. Still, a surreal experience. Did the tour guide play that Navajo Flute music while you were down there? That sound haunts me to this day.

Thank you for sharing this with us. And please thank the Lovely Miss Tammy for helping out with the pics and adding some of her beauty to a few of those pictures. I will be sharing this with Mrs. Redfish tomorrow, she will love this.

I just showed this excellent RR to Pop and I could see his mental wheels spinning. I showed it to Mrs. Redfish yesterday and she is ready to drive to Utah. Right Now!

Pop and I are going to have to make a decision on what to do for this year's Big Trip and this RR will have a big impact on those discussions. I want to make EOM but...

Excellent report!!! I've done most of the places in your report, many of them more then once, and many of them on the cross America trip I made in July. Unlike your wonderful bride my bride was no good and we parted about 11 years ago.so my summer trip was on my own and I'm the world's worst photographer. Utah 12 and 95 both rock! Capitol Reef, Bryce, and Zion are my favorite Utah N.P.s but I still appreciated Arches and Canyon Lands. Independence Pass was spectacular. Black Canyon rocks. The whole western slop in Colorado rocks except for the traffic around some of the ski towns. I'm with your bride about Vegas. When I pass through that way I some times take advantage of an internet special deal for the Virgin River Casino Resort in Mesquite, NV where they will give you a room for $29.00 and $25.00 of free plays of their slot machines making the room near to free so long as you only gamble with their $25.00. The little piece of I 15 in Arizona between Utah and Nevada is I think the prettiest piece of interstate highway I've ever ridden on.
