There is no reason why you can't test your ABS on a dry, well-surfaced, normal road.

You will need to start a little faster and squeeze/press the brake lever harder - but smoothly (whilst snatching the front brake will exercise the ABS more easily, it's a little harder to release quickly if it doesn't activate).

Testing either brake, if the ABS doesn't function, release of the brake lever will enable the bike to recover predictably, quickly and easily.

I test mine occasionally as a check and to exercise it.
