Brodie

Hey Brodie.......... you need to update the bottom of your page their partner!!! I don't see

no upside down bike.. no moose / Elk strike... UPDATE .... hahahahaha LOL

Noticed that some winter weather moved in today...

...so I'm thinking I'll pass on the long, wet, slog to San Mateo tomorrow.
Last night I rode home from work in some pretty good rain. Was not expecting that level of wet, but I guess I was prepared with my 'stitch and (somewhat) waterproof gloves. And my Widder 'lectric vest is still kicking out the heat! I dearly love it on nights like that.

But it sure was a drag in freeway stop'n'go with difficulty seeing, and slithering up between cars, albeit moderately (mostly  ). I had elected to ride up the dark twisty two-lane road over the hill, but at the top stop sign there were about 12 cars backed up where there are usually none, because a CHP cruiser had blocked off the piece of road that drops in behind the Caldecott Tunnel. So I did a U-turn that made me feel even more anxious about traction when my rear wheel slipped pretty good. Anyway, I had to go all the way back down that hill and out of town a different way.

But by the time I got into my neighborhood my helmet shield was completely compromised wtih moistrue and fog on the inside, so I could not see through it; and I could only lift the visor if I was going slow 'cause of the stinging rain drops.

I have no appetite to go the the MC show in San Mateo: I don't want to give up most of the day for it; I don't want to get out in the cold and damp; not a lot of forum action down there; not that interested in motorcycles apart from the one I ride....

So for me today it's a fire, oil painting, reading, and later an old movie with Fang (who is in a cast and crutches BTW, the dear).

Later,

JB

Yep....the weather report said the rain would be later in the evening. Surprise!!!

Luckily I timed it so that my commute was mostly drizzle that turned to rain as I took the exit for home. Lucky me!

Fire and painting...good things. :clapping:

Old movie with Wife-unit...great thing. :yahoo:

Laurel in cast and crutches...do tell?

Please give her my best regards.

One assumes she wasn't kicking or tripping YOU.

We got there at 8-45 and signed up for the Tenere test ride. There were three Tenere's there and almost all slots to ride were booked up. I picked an open slot at 11am but unfortunately the bikes did not move all morning because of the rain, No Yamaha test rides were moving about 12-15pm when we left. The show seemed a lot smaller this year. Some manufacturers were no shows and there were sales booths inside the main building, something that never happened on such a large scale before. Now how far away is Long Beach......................

Didn't go, of course, but I got this first-person account from

forum member ScooterActivist.

(edited to remove the personal stuff)

...Okay, so, the day at IMS.

I signed up for the-

1. Kawi Z1000 @ noon.

2. ZX10R (the 2010- not the 2011), @ 1:30pm

3. Yamaha Super Tenere @ 2:40pm

Kawi & Yamaha rides were a little shorter than last year, about 20 minutes.

And BMW was there. THEIR rides lasted about an hour and a half. They rode

out to Alice's, stopped to chat for awhile, and then back. ...I was a backup on their 1:00 pm. And my name got called.

How things unfolded:

I rode the Z1000. Engine was not as interesting as the Speed Triple.

It was smooth and comfortable. Suspension wasn't that good. My B-King

is much more of an experience.

B-King--MUCH better suspension, both comfort and handling wise.

Engine on B-King--much, much more interesting.

It is hard to beat all of that torque at any RPM.

(He's trying to sell me his B-King. Never happen.)

It was raining pretty decently by about 1:00pm, but stopped, mostly.

Too wet for the 1:30 pm Kawi ride.

The Japanese folks and Harley would not go out if there were puddles.

The BMW folks did not miss a ride all day.

Unfortunately, while standing around at about 1:15pm under the BMW

tent, I managed to lose a contact lens. I was still hoping to find it at

about 1:25pm, so when they called my name, I didn't bother answering.

At least it started pouring raining a few minutes after they all took off.

And, of course, the rain was still going pretty well at 2:40pm. No

Super Tenere for me.

The show was a bunch smaller this year than last year. But, they had super-moto

racing outside, in addition to the Kawi stunt team guys from last year.

Saw Brodie there. He was drunk and cursing and shoving people around.

(Okay. I mighta fabricated that bit about Brodie. :D ...'Cause we're buds.)

The show was smaller this year but our little group made the best of it.

It wasn't raining when my brother Mike and daughter Erin rolled in mid day.

I tried on the Tenere just because it was there. It was OK I guess, it doesn't fit any nitch I need filled now or the distant future.

On planet Harley these people are probubly just normal folks.

The FZ800 was kinda cool.

Deep down inside everyone wants a scooter.

Honda's big VFR put the biggest smile on my brothers face.

Their little CBR250 had Erin all giddy.

Everyone except Suzuki has a nice crop of naked/street fighters now.

If I owned a Harley this would be it.

Progressive Insurance had it dialed in for the show. Cards issued at the door to be redeemed for (crappy) prizes at their booth. Ride with Flo pictures issued to all the dorks willing.

And a small lounge area to take a load off.

The super moto's were running when we got there but I'm not sure if this guy, Jason Britton, got too much stunt'n in?

1099496444_p8wSv-L.jpg

I think the little Ninja 250 came away as Erin's 'I must have it' bike.

This is the go-to rig when I get too old and broken up to ride any more. With age comes a cage.

I must be a little damaged because this little Versys was one of the most appealing bikes at the show for me. Great ergos, felt light, flickable and actually seemed capable of traveling well on pavement and sliding the rear end on a fire road.

This years IMS show gallery and all the photos.

Paid too much to park a car, $10.00, paid too much to get in $15.00 each (never cashed in a coupon) and the show was small this year but it beat staying home. :D

Brad....Erin may THINK she wants the little Ninja....but she NEEDS the Versys! :yahoo:

As you said, "light and flickable" with enough power and comfort to ride all day.

Besides, you might borrow it once in awhile.

Uhm....Happy 19th Birthday?

Just tryin' tuh hep!
