Torque setting tapered roller bearings

For those that have replaced their steering head bearings with tapered roller bearings, what torque value did you tighten them up to ?

Just did mine last week and am happy with them.

Same as what the manual calls for on the OEM roller bearings...I believe it was 17lbs of torque.

Other's may argue a bit tighter, but I would disagree as I noticed the steering to be a bit stiffer with any more than what the manual recommends.

I set mine the same as the manual called for on my FZ1 and the Warrior. They both use tapered roller bearings from the factory. The initial torque was 37 foot pounds, back off the ring and torque to 5 foot pounds.
