That looks like an interesting article. I wish I could read it!! I wonder how much weight they added to the bike.

They sure do top these...

Bit hard to park though?
Well, yeah, but who cares? Haven't seen such a nice weapons mounting system in my entire life. I bet you could put a rocket launcher and a 20mm cannon on each side and have room left over for a cruise missile or two. Can't imagine a better way to promote safety, the cagers wouldn't come near you! Whoever invented them deserves the Dud Perkins award.

That's similar to the setup they use at automobile performance driving schools so that they can unload the front wheels, rear wheels, or both to simulate understeer, oversteer, etc. Looks like it is really used to allow you to get the feeling of loosing control on wet/slick roads without dumping the bike completely.

Just for kicks, I put part of this article through the Dutch to English translator at freetranslations.com and got this bit of broken English. It ain't the best, but you can make out some of the meaning.

"he result of something self to be able to experience is yet always the best school. By Yamaha know they that also and they had a real test circuit set up us of the capacities of their FJR1300A at the same time ABS to convince.,. Under the taking care aim for from the professional row-instructors of Freebike might we firstly our remtechniek what warm up on as well TDM without ABS as with a FJR1300A that thus well with an ABS system had been equipped., . After each remactie, we became aangezet more fast in the anchors to go and so the limit of the ties to go look up. When as well the ties as we enough on temperature were, followed the ultimate test. We became to a separate test strip piloted where a quite special equipped FJR1300A on us stood to wait. The motor had been stripped for the occasion partly by the tub work and had gotten at both sides a sturdy support wheel. The road surface which the restraining Stens on had to take place was also "prepared" : the already very slippery surface was through add by a water layer spekglad made and pale in the practice awful good on a heavy beijzelde prepare. After single demonstrations of the instructor, that were best well impressive,, we were at the turn. We got for one time the choice the motor as well with as without ABS to ride for Yamaha had for it seen to that the system to wish as well in as eliminated wanted to become.

Nobody was obliged without ABS to ride, but because we the difference otherwise could not judge, selected we for it as well with as without ABS the tests to lead. With a speed of just no 40 kilometers per hour we headed on for the remzone, clamped fast and set us sturdily at the motor the remactie in. Carefully built we the remdruk on, at least that thought we, for for we it awful in had slid the furrow wheel under us way and clapped the motor on be she. Fortunately the support wheel caught as well us as the motor on time on, otherwise had we certainly with motor and already against the road surface lain. Somewhat under the impression of these almost-valpartij, we connected the ABS system in and risked a second attempt. By the aanremmen, the motor remained wanted to feel now beautiful law and the working of the ABS self clear. A pulserende movement in the remhendel betrayed that the ABS at the work was and the motor remained initial beautiful its line follow. When we almost alleviate stood went the motor still on be side because the unnaturally seeming weight of the extra support construction its top demanded. A weight of 40 kilograms that more than a meter outside the heart line of a motor sticks out is now once something where you as layman only little bill with hold by your first testrit with a such construction. The Yamaha FJR1300 with ABS has us nevertheless know convince of the strong increased safety that the drivers of it are offered. Under normal circumstances may you of this motor marriage expect that he quite nicely its route will follow, even already go you in a fright reaction with full conviction in the brakes.,. Too much remdruk can you namely do not build up because the technique intervenes for you in a critical situation –blocked wheel can be found. "

The jist of the article appears to talk about the wonders of the ABS system on slick surfaces.

For translation, I think it's like in those foreign movies where the actor's mouths are going a mile-a-minute and at the bottom of the screen it says, "You must die now!" All the gibber-gabber is telling you to buy their set-up and you won't kill yourself. Or just go off and buy a 3-cylinder diesel car and stop being such a non-conformist.

On the other hand, the learning curve would be pretty steep to get used to using those things on the street, or anywhere else for that matter. Man, if you think you did a bad thing and bumped a saddlebag, wait til the first time you go flying into your garage with those things on! Hoo-boy! And watch out for the first lamp post you come to!?! :haha:

I really don't think I'll be in any hurry to get a set of my own.

Dutch porno ROCKS! :hyper:
