Dates and location are set! We'll be staying in Bridgeport, CA, on the east side of the Sierras with easy access to all the passes as well as many lakes, fishing, hiking, riding and of course... YOSEMITE!  FJRay's Reuben Run is the weekend after Labor Day so if you play your cards right, you can hit both!

Sept. 2-5, 2021
Virginia Creek Settlement
70847 US-395
Bridgeport, CA 93517
https://www.virginiacreeksettlement.com
(760) 932-7780

NOTE: The entire settlement is booked under my name. You must call VCS directly to book a room under your name. Tell them you are booking for the YFO group. The owner's name is Jimmy and he's awesome. If there are any issues, please let me know and I'll post Jimmy's cell number and you can go directly through him.

For those that may be trailering their bikes, there is another resort across the road for RVs and trailers as well as a few more rooms. I have not contacted them as of yet - let me know if there is interest and I will.

CAMPING:

If you are thinking of camping along the way at Yosemite, book now. Seriously! That place books up way in advance!! If we book all of the accommodations at Virginia Creek Settlement, they will be able to accommodate campers onsite. Otherwise, here are some suggestions within six miles:

Bridgeport Reservoir

Paradise Shores

More details to come! :D

Here are a few route options for the weekend:

Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest / Convict Lake / June Lake Loop
https://goo.gl/maps/vPbDEjsxuDZyJbfeA

Sonora/Ebbetts/Monitor Passes (dependent on how the fire suppression is going in the area… you can shorten it by coming south on 395 but be aware of diligent law enforcement in the area)
https://goo.gl/maps/98TUYS5CxTC2aMAj8

Big Yosemite Loop (including 49 and the Little Dragon)
https://goo.gl/maps/CN4WSqAbnaEVuJnR6

Other points of interest:

Lone Pine Movie Museum / Movie Rd (dirt)
https://www.lpmuseum.org/
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/movie-road-trail

Manzanar
https://www.nps.gov/manz/index.htm

Bodie Ghost Town (dirt road to get there – very close to the Settlement)
https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=509

Death Valley (long haul)

Sequoia Natl Park / Kings Canyon Natl Park (definitely a loooonnnggg haul but it can be done… right, FYB?? 😉 )

And of course there is Yosemite – I’d recommend going in on Thursday or Friday to avoid the crowds for the most part (and hopefully you paid attention to my earlier post about getting a pass into the park… if you didn’t, you can give it a go now and see if you can still get the 3-day pass… you can get a timed entry to go straight through the park but that won’t allow much time to explore).

For meals: There is a restaurant onsite so everyone is on their own for Thursday and Friday. Group banquet dinner will be on Saturday, September 4, at 6:30pm followed by tall tales and lies and more lies around the bonfire. Meal costs are as follows and include all the fixings plus tax and tip:

Steak Dinner - $54 (T-bone)
Steak Dinner - $48 (Ribeye)
Steak Dinner - $41 (New York)
Chicken Dinner - $37
1/2 rack ribs - $38
Grilled Salmon - $34
Vegetarian Dinner- $29

Please Paypal your meal $$ to [email protected] and remember to tell me what meal(s) you want… thank you!! :D

I booked yesterday, not much left. Book now before it's too late.
Actually, there's still lots of room left... for those on the fence, make your reservation anyway... you can always cancel later but I anticipate the place will sell out. Git on it!! ;)

The NPS is going to implement a day-use reservation system for Yosemite from May 21 - September 30. 70% capacity, or 5760 vehicles per day. Here is the link for info and to get your pass:

https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/reservations.htm
UPDATE:  They are allowing thru traffic without a reservation (i.e. getting from one side of the park to the other without any stops, etc. and you're given a time constraint to do it in).

https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/covid19.htm

Do I need a day-use reservation if I am just driving through the park?

You can drive through the park to reach a destination on the other side of the park without a reservation. The entrance station ranger will provide a time-stamped permit valid for the time needed to travel from entrance to entrance. You must drive the most direct route to exit the park; stopping is prohibited. Violating park regulations can result in a fine of up to $5,000 and/or six months in jail.

The park entrance fee still applies and provides access to visit Hetch Hetchy during open hours.
