what is this part?

i did the fz-1 mirror upgrade, while i was at it, wired in the zumo i received this week. then i noticed a wire with a flat end with hole in it floating around, just near the right headlight adjusting cable. part is at the end of my index finger:



i also noticed another "floater", again at the end of my index finger:



can someone help a brother out and tell me what these are and why they're just floating around back there?

Turbo boost knob. Won't work though if you've whacked the air box open.

Could be a ground that was attached to the mirror? Don't know otherwise.

Mmmm hmm. Shows what you know mang. Kunuter valves haven't been an option since the kz 400 in 78. That's a booger ya was lookin at.

Maybe it's an aftermarket kunuter setup... I hear there's a decent black market for those nowadays...

Looks to me like you have a major problem there. Is the bike running OK? It should be missing badly on one cylinder. Not sure about the big knob, but the loop thing is the top of a piston return spring, it should be attached to the bent bit on one of your spark plugs. I suggest a complete strip down before you ride again.
