what appears to be a pretty decent old fjr (03) on ebay for 2850 USD. it's in northern nevada. sorry, but i'm a dummy and don't know how to make a link here for it

Looks like it would be a good starter bike. Don't know much about the earlier year models, but I am sure many will chime in. Wonder if it has had the valve clearances checked?

I'd ask about maintenance records, any known issues, if scheduled services were done, etc. All of the standard questions for used vehicles. It certainly appears worth checking out.

well, after some discussion with the owner, I took the plunge! now I'm the proud owner of a 2003 fjr 1300 (to match the "other Yamaha 1300" 86 royale in my garage). seems like a relatively good buy with what's been done to it recently. we shall see...
