I'd heard OF it but not ABOUT it. Get well soon and fully. Glad you're still with us to squinch your eyes every time you have to laugh.

Your cough that hurt then you felt better sure sounds a lot like my last medical thing. Seems it was some kind of "plug" deep in my lungs that the cough broke loose. After that, the lung could inflate like it should have been doing.

Glad you're in "relatively" good shape Matt. Could have been way worse, just chill and get better

Just got off the phone this morning with my friend Sparky's account of their encounter with a deer during that same venue. Long story short, he kept the 'Wing upright but the deer swung around and broke his wif'e's leg. Yes, the EMT's in that part of the world are excellent, unfortunately because of the volume of M/C traffic in the summer. Also, the orthopedic surgeons in Calispel, of all places, are also excellent, primarily because of all the climbers and hikers falling off the trails in nearby Glacier!

Who knew????

+1
+1, Gunny: Yo Matt, do you need any medical supplies for your home recovery? I have a super walker (gift from Dr. Rich), nice cane, shower chair, shower hand grips, various ice packs, compression wraps, etcetera. I had a bedpan, but I shipped it to Bustanut joker when he had his heart attack (I never bothered to clean it though!). JSNS, Poopy!

Let me know and I can overnight ship them to you: [email protected] or 480-440-4666

Holy smokes man, that's quite an ordeal! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Then it'll be time to bike shopping again.

Damn horrible post to read, but impressively soon after the events described. But the thing I'm thinking as I read it: Is this just inevitable, or what? Ride long and far enough, and you will experience this? You'd think, or hope, with enough experience, you'd just be able to avoid anything like this happening, but you can't count on it, can you? Gives a feller pause . . . Anyway, wish you a smooth and complete recovery.

Glad your OK....Take your time to recover and don't rush it....You and Don can now sit around the camp fire and talk about your off road adventures and helo rides.
Yeah, somebody should create a helo icon for the sig line. You two, OM, and probably others can be the charter members of THAT club, and welcome to it.

One last thought. The slamming impact of a thing like this breaks bones and does a lot of damage, but a top quality set of protective gear sure saves SO much pain later. Glad you had that going for you.

Glad to hear you're still with us. My wife just had a get off that Friday morning due to someone's oil spill in a corner. She's laid up with one broken rib and a lot of bruises on her left leg. We were acquaintances of Bruce Jansen whose crash last week in that area didn't end as well.

Really sorry to hear of your accident, those broken ribs must have hurt like hell. Hope the docs get you back 100% without needing any surgeries and you're back riding again soon.

Matt, sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you survived to tell about it. Let us all be reminded how fragile health and life are.

Best wishes

John

Yes. My first DNF ever....and I was on a route that could have been the winner.

Sure sounds to me like you did come out a winner, in an event far more precious than any rally, Iggy. Heal well...

Heal well Matt. Sure glad you found your phone and it worked. Modern technology is pretty cool. Enjoy the good drugs.

Don't worry about the sheep, I'm sure Barry will hold a prayer vigil for his lost girlfriend.

Matt,

That -- was not a good read, but was well put together. Fookin' sheep :-((

Seems like you're well on the way to a good recovery

-- but I'll tell you to heal quick and well anyway.

Dammit Matt, that sucks! I'm glad you're mostly ok. Animals and motorcycles do not mix. You sound pretty broken. Continue to follow up. I'd be very surprised if that clavicle doesn't need to be plated together.

I'm glad you were wearing gear. You got broken, which no gear can fully prevent, but the lack of broken skin, and road rash should be enough to convince anyone.

Glad you're feeling better. Take it easy and keep us updated. Sorry about your bike man.

wow, what a story!!!

Hard post to write Im sure.

Heal well and quick.
