30 pounds totally changed the bikes handling? What did you do, put everything in one sidecase? I've put 30 lbs in the TOPCASE and not been that bothered by it.

I'm normally a 'any problem is solvable' kinda guy, but it sounds like the only solution here is to sell it and get a smaller bike. Have you sat on a Buell? I know the engine isn't what most tourers dream of, but the frame is right and you can add soft luggage.

....just don't put anything in those bags, it will change the handling. J/k

Sorry it didn't work out for you. But I really have a lot of trouble imagining how 30 lbs of extra weight makes it unrideable.

I'm fortunate to be mean height and weight, just the kind of ergo requirements for whom bikes seem to get built. But I can put my 5'7" 130# GF on the back in full gear and load the saddlebags and topbox for a weeklong trip, and it handles fine in all conditions -- even great, and that absolutely includes twisties. Same for riding solo with OR without it being loaded for a week long trip. I make some accommodation in riding style for additional weight, esp. if it's in the top box, but I've never experienced what you mention.

As to the bike stalling on take-off -- again, never had an issue with mine, but I know some have had ECM and TPS issues on GenIIs that may have contributed to that (I have a Gen I). Sometimes it's the rider, sometimes it's not. Either way, sounds like it isn't the bike for you and hope you find one that better suits your needs.

= IS IT FRIDAY ??????? =
Some where in the universe it is...have at it. :clapping:

EDIT: PMS Maybe?

YEAH, that figures. I was expecting that and you didn't disappoint. The little woman couldn't possibly know what she's taking about it has to be PMS.
Well...it's either PMS or you're having a day from Hell...or you're a natural born whiner...cuz your whiney bitchin' post is WAY over the top.

I did my research. I asked lots of questions on this site about lowering the FJR. I made damn sure the forks were lowed the same as the rear. I spent an entire day on highway 12 dialing in the suspension after reading every post I could find on this site about the subject. Had her dialed in so well my husband could not lose me in the turns on his FZ1. Wonderful, or so I thought. If a little weight can throw her off this much, to hell with it. Awful, AWFUL ride!!

So this is somehow our fault?

We get it - you're pissed - I feel sorry for your husband.

I'd almost say an ERC course would probably benefit this person, I've never had a problem handing the Feej at low speeds but unless you are used to slipping the clutch or confident in your skills I can see how it would be a difficult bike to handle, As awesome as I think the Feej is, it does take some finesse at low speeds since she is a heavy beast... IMHO Sport Tourers are like that in general (With the possible exception of the VFR)
I took an ERC over this past weekend and the ridercoach pointed out something that I did unconsciously but never thought about is that sport tourers don't have the same handlebar lock to lock travel as other bikes so you need to do more lean bike only and slip the clutch in order to do slow speed tight turns. If you are not used to that, the bike CAN feel like he is describing...
Okay, I've been riding for 15 years. I have taken the beginner, the intermediate, and the advanced courses. I have put 9,000 miles on the FJR since she was purchased last year. 30,000 on the Suzuki I just sold. 15,000 on the FZ1 I sold before I purchased the FJR. I could go on and on but I'm getting tired of defending myself. So go ahead and keep saying I'm inexperienced and need confidence if it makes you feel better. I guess that is a lot better than admitting that the FJR sucks.

Nope, riding pillion doesn't count.

Well, you got me. I didn't realize I was dealing with someone with such depth of experience.

You've convinced me...the FJR sucks.

I think, once you get back into your right mind, you outta take ionbeam up on his offer. :clapping:

....None have stalled on take off as much as this one.
Sorry you're dissatisfied but this issue is definitely not the bike's fault. How many miles have you put on the bike? Are you sure you've truly grown accustomed to it? It sounds like you've done your homework and tried different settings but time and distance usually help resolve some familiarity issues. Then again, if you feel this passionately about replacing it, then that's probably the best thing to do.

(Edit - I see you've put 9,000 miles on the bike. If you don't like it by now, you never will. Give it to Ionbeam. ;) )

THAT is what you wanted or expected????

Good luck imposing your view of the world on everyone else. To you it may suck, but to me it's the best bike I've ever ridden or owned. And that'd be in 43 or 44 years of riding. Good luck to your husband.

Don't bother replying. I'm done with this site and will not look at it again so your little digs will be a waste and what talent there is to waste. YEAH right... :)

... an equal opportunity dogpile. I like it.

Like I said:

GOOD LUCK TO YOUR HUSBAND!

Wondering if we have any responsibility to contact the sheriff in Hamilton and notify him/her of a soon-to-be battered male in serious PMS induced danger?

You've had smaller bikes and were somehow convinced this was "the one" for you? Seriously?

The FJR doesn't suck, it's totally up to the rider. If you can't take that, well, enjoy whatever dirtbike fits you best.

Might I suggest that the tire pressures just happened to go out of whack at the same time you loaded the 30 lbs? Just a thought.
