$768.50..... ouch! plus HST

edit: I'm going to the bike show this weekend If I'm near the BMW booth I may ask to get my spin on it.

BMW will be there... won't they?
https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57185&highlight=Bike+Shows Tom according to this link BMW will be at Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
I'll be there tomorrow and will ask.... but it is more of a manufacturer show to show off new bikes, and I've not seen many accessories at the Beemer area before. I'll look, letcha know. Best bet is Budd's (Oakville), so I'll look for an opportunity to stop in there someday soon.

IF the System 6 is C$768, includes the com system, then it trumps all US pricing....... but let's see what we find out.

Don, you would be wiser to wear the new helmets home and mail the used ones back....

Thanks Ray, that is the game plan: To buy them at the BMW shoppe Barb recommended in Vancouver; then find a Postal Center Store and ship our old HJC's back to Arizona. My question to Budd's is: Will you sell the System 6 to a Gringo? Or can you only sell the 6 to Canuckistanis?

I don't think it matters who you are as long as you have moolah.

https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44142&highlight=Schuberth+System+helmets&page=3 Brother Ray, I really hope you are right on this one. However, on all three BMW Forums I check out every American that has tried to buy a System 6 helmet from a Canadian BMW shop has been shut down. They've been asked for identification and once it is discovered they are Gringos: NO SALE! BMW Canada has threatened all of their dealers with huge sanctions if they sell a Schuberth System 6 to USA citizens.

It all revolves around the fact a Schuberth System 6 is not DOT approved! Which is absolutely ridiculous because it qualifies to Worldwide Certifications that far exceed any DOT testing procedures. Whatever you and Tomaso can find out would be appreciated.

ACHTUNG MEIN FREUND FROSTBACKS: If any of you Toronto Hosers are attending this show, I MUST have pictures of the new Norton. My second motorcycle owned was a brand new 1964 Norton Atlas 750, with the Combat engine. I want to know everything about this new Norton reincarnation, this is your mission my Canuckistani Amigos; don't fail your Papa Chuy Viejo, ese!

Yesterday several members of our club attended the Toronto Motorcycle Show in downtown Toronto. Since I haven't been to one of the Progressive shows in the States for a few years' date=' I can't comment on how this show compares, but I wasn't disappointed with the exhibits.
Like the US shows, most of the major manufacturers that sell bikes in Canada were represented. The most notable absentee manufacturer was Kawasaki. There wasn't even a display by one of the Canadian Kawasaki dealers. There were also exhibits by several tire manufacturers and major accessory vendors, as well as tour companies, helmet manufacturers, clothing manufacturers, and others. A full list of exhibitors is available on the show's web site here.

I won't bore everyone with a complete rundown of what I saw, but here are the highlights.

BMW Canada displayed the new C 600 Sport and C 650 GT scooters. Their full line was on display, including the 2012 S1000RR, which looks even better in person than in pictures.

I drooled at the MV Agusta booth, where several versions of the F4, Brutale 1090, and the new F3 were on display. Likewise, Ducati had their new 1099 Panigale available. Rounding out the Italians, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia showed several models. I particularly likes the new Guzzi V7 Racer. It's perfect for the cafe racer crowd.

Triumph has a prototype of their new Tiger Explorer, a 1200cc adventure bike complete with shaft drive and electric cruise control. Yamaha showed their Super Tenere, but I preferred the Triumph due to its lower seating height.

Norton was also there. Apparently their Canadian dealer network is set up, something that can't be said about their US network. The bikes were obviously Nortons, but with all the modern advances.

Zero Motorcycles was on hand with several versions of their electric motorcycles. But the most environmentally friendly bike had to be the Can-Am Spyder Hybrid prototype. If nothing else, Can-Am should make the paint scheme available as a option on current bikes.

Finally, for the children, Yamaha set up a small version of their Yamaha Riding Academy. Yamaha provided riding gear and instruction for children as young as 6 on their 50 and 90 cc off-road bikes. The kids were probably having more fun than anyone else at the show, since they were the only ones riding.

I was going to go to the show 'cept I don't have time shit or spin. Besides, sitting on all that new iron could get REAL expensive.

Hopefully I can make it down for the January show.

Ah my sun baked friend to the south, It's actually kind of nice today. Just a lack of time and dealing with snow squalls coming off of Georgian Bay isn't much fun. I'm not sure what 'Puta la Maji' means, by I know Puta is a whore. And, well, yes, yes I am you vaka figa :)

Papa I was at the show today.. no Kawasaki, no Norton's. Stopped at the BMW booth and the Schuberth booth, basically both the System 6 and C3 do not come with the comm system (optional extra). System 6 is $826, C3 is $718 (but I could have it for $699), comm system is BMW $480, C3 $399 (all plus 13% HST). There is a slight difference in style and a BMW sticker to justify the (ridiculous) difference in price. BMW will not pay for DOT testing, ECE only, therefore the System 6 will never be DOT approved. I tried a C3 on, and I was impressed. It is a superior modular, but I can't justify (yet) spending that much for a helmet that is supposed to be disposed of in 5 years.

I ran into Yamafitter, and we both agreed that your head is not nearly square enough to fit into a System 6 nor is it worth the extra. You'd have to have a lot of intravenous KoolAid before you could have one........

If you really have your heart set on a System 6 you could use some closed foam injection to fill in the square corners.

Just trying to be helpful here. :)

Many Thanks Ray and Bill, this does confirm what has been stated on the BMW Forums. I just wanted the System 6 because I have been wearing Schuberth for so many long years now.

My C1 is on a shelf in the garage because it is so damn old and I wear my C2: But my C2 is five years old now. I just could not see enough differences with the C3 to justify its purchase, I thought the System 6 would be the best; because it is the latest and greatest. Seth and I MUST get new helmets before NAFO / CFR 2012, so I am back to finding us other helmets to choose form, I just love the flip up modulars with the built in sun shade!

This will be my next helmet:

I'll have to add speakers and a microphone, but I did that with my HJC and it was easy enough and works well.

Seeing as how we have drifted off the main topic... At the show I tracked down a BMW rep. Well a young kid (does that mean I feel old?) So I asked him.... He said no diffence between the two. then pressed on he said the BMW helmet doesn't have a thing hanging off the side of the helmet. It's all in the helmet. It's a nice looking helmet. I picked it up played with all the things. I like the latching system air control at the nose looks cool to use. Sun visor goes up and down. It appears lighter than my RF1000. Now the thing I said ouch too. The helmet is $826 and change here in Canada plus 13% HST. Now you have to add another $500plus 13% for HST for the comm sytem to it.

Now something I noticed also while handling it.... I didn't see a DOT sticker on the helmet. Maybe they put it inside but then maybe not because they had a little BMW and the helmet size where the DOT sticker is normally.

Of course the price didn't fizz on him ... He told me the helmet he used this passed year cost $2300. Some how I think that someone else is buying his stuff.

That kid should buy one of those $5 helmets that Bell used to mention in their old ads, "If you have a $5 head wear a $5 helmet". If he is willing to spend $2300 on a helmet he doesn't have a head worth protecting.

Like I said... If figure it is a company sponser equipment that he's wearing...but then he said the helmet didn't weight anymore than a peice of paper.

This is the one I have, Greg, bought a new one this year in that fancy yellow. Scorpion EXO900. Like it.

https://www.nortonmotorcycles.com/ One quick question for my fine Canadian Friends: Were you Hosers stupid drunk when you Frostbacks attended the Toronto, CA Motorcycle Show?

Because all of the BMW Forumites and Norton Incorporated from England claim that the new Norton's were on display in Toronto! Not that I've a single prejudice against drunkenness!
