    Cracked Trunk Gen I

So, my 05's trunk cracked (the bottom part). Does anyone have a replacement for this? I don't want to buy a new trunk...far too expensive, and the top half of mine is perfect. Right now it is bound with duct tape...seems to be working, but I'm just A BIT nervous.

Do I really have to "check and adjust valve clearance" at 27,000 miles?

I apologize if this question has been asked before. My bike (2005 Gen I) is running perfectly. I am bringing it in for a service....do I really need to have this done? I imagine that it will NOT be inexpensive. Thanks Dave

top box "rack" for 2005 FJR (urgent)

The plastic "connector" to which one attaches the standard yamaha trunk on my 2005 FJR is cracked. I bought the bike used, so I don't know if it was due to over-tightening or just use. Does ANYONE know where I might find one? I'm concerned that it might give, and there goes my trunk! I'm...

New Rochelle, New York, Wheelsport Center

Just a note regarding this dealer's advice that I get a valve adjustment on my '05 FJR at 20,000 miles. When I questioned whether the owner's manual indicated that that was the correct mileage to have the adjustment done, the person in the service department said "YES, 20,000 miles". I just...

v-strom hand guards, risers, and interference with mirrors on 2005 fjr

On the fjrgoodies site, there is a note, and I quote: Also please note: We have had a report that using these handguards in conjunction with handlebar risers can cause interference with the mirrors. Before I buy them, can anyone give me some feedback. I have a 2005, with risers. But I'd like...

    hand guards and throttlemeister?

Thanks -- but why have I been reading that one cannot use the v-strom guards and still keep the throttlemeister? I'm certain I read that.

    hand guards and throttlemeister?

So, I've been reading the numerous entries describing hand guard options for the fjr (I have a gen I). The question I have is whether there are ANY options for handguards if I want to keep my throttlemeister -- which I really like on long rides. Thanks

    Service Recommendation?

Thanks very much -- you are right -- I should learn some basic MC maintenance skills. But your suggestions are right on! The only additional items I am thinking of are to replace the clutch fluid and fork oil.... I am going to be curious as to whether I will notice any difference in the way...

    Service Recommendation?

Hi, I hope that someone could give me some advice -- since while I love my FJR, I have little mechanical aptitude. I purchased an '05 in December with about 13,000 miles on it, and just rode it from New Mexico to NY (roundabout route, 2700 miles in 9 days). The bike now has 17,000 miles on it...

Tank Bags Redux - Roadgear Sport Tank Bag

Thanks! I got an email advertising the sale, and thought that it might be a good time to buy a bag that I had planned to buy anyway this spring...but is the bag any good? Roadgear stuff generally is, but better to be safe than sorry (a motto that I use when riding as well) :) [

Tank Bags Redux - Roadgear Sport Tank Bag

I know that this issue has been discussed before, but I wonder if anyone has had any experience and/or opinions about the Roadgear Sport Tank Bag (the mid-sized one), holding 11-14 liters. Thanks
