    Girls Ride Too! :)

  my son got his first cycle (compliments of dad) at the tinder age of 26. My wife and I had a knock down , drag out fight about it , and I came out on top. I can recall my old man telling me how dangerous they are. At the age of 51 , I got my first bike and have never...

    reflections on first overnight ride

I +1 gunny that above. To help relieve the heat off the engine , you might consider Wild Bill Highway pegs. They get your legs away from the heat on long trips. The only down side about beadrider is they make the seat a good bit more slick and you might move around more. Mark

    MCN worth it for $22?

Worth every penny you pay for it. One great magazine.... :yahoo:

    New North Texas member!

You could buy a used bike in the 650 - 750 cc size. Ride it for a season and sell it and trade up to the FJR. I had a Honda shadow VT 750 for about a year , learned how to ride and proceded to wreck it in some curves. After healing up , I got this FJR and have throughly enjoyed it. It is a...

    Actual Cost at D&H

jwilly is correct about these folks. I've bought 2 bikes from them in the last 6 months and been very happy with my purchases. I got a 08 fjr and kawasaki versys. Since you are out of state , you pay no tax on the bike until you title it in your state , which would be less than buying in state...

    The Journey begins July 11th

Don't know if your going thru Nashville or not , but I have an extra bed and plenty of wine and beer in the cooler . Just PM me and let me tell my wife that we will have another FJR owner passing thru. That trip sure does sound like lots of fun. Be safe and enjoy .

    Another happy D&H customer!

:clapping: :clapping: D & H are the greatest. I picked up a new Versys for my 26yo son this past Saturday 21th and he stated he had 2 FJR's that were supposed to be coming in. He had two in crates in the warehouse , but they were already sold. They really try to make the buying a good...

    KC area dealers, D&H comparison

I'm in Nashville and got my 08 this past January from D&H. They are the greatest bunch of people to do business with. I'm also buying a Versys this week from them for my son. They give great service and rock bottom prices.

    Windshield question again

I vote for the rifle. I have a +5 +4 light gray tint and like it very much . I'm 5' 10' with a 31 " inseam wt 168 lb. The only problem may be the August heat here in Tn. It is very quite at about 3/4 raised. At the lowest setting , you will get good air flow , but also you will get some wind...

Where's the topics on prices paid for a 2008 AE?

Gunny +1 on calling D&H Cyles. You can find their address in the Vender and Dealer Feedback section of this forum. Give them a call , they will have the rock bottom price of anywhere in USA . I got an 08 1300a for 11999.00 plus tax and title. I think the 1300ae model is about $1500 more. Only...

since I had the camera out today...

Very nice setup. I much like. Maybe some enterprising company (Bikeeffects comes to mind) will offer some premade kit for all of us newby's and turn a little profit.

    New suspension settings

Thanks for the advice to us newby's. I will wait until I get back to D&H for a little help with this one.

Victor , you got off lucky. My first and hopefully last horizonal misadventure totaled my cruiser/loser bike and still trying to get my wrist back to normal after 8 months. Still learned a very valuable lesson that inattention can be very costly. Glad you didn't injure any body parts.

    Now what do I do?

Gunny ++ that one. I waited until I was 52 for my first bike and could kick myself for waiting so long. Matter of fact , going to D&H today to pick a dual sport for my oldest son (27). Just bring it home and hope for the best. The worst that can happen is you will own two bikes and an ex. :o

    Fuel gauge

Wait until it starts flashing and you have at least 20 miles left. I have been told by Shokdimn that he has had his fjr stall out after about 20 miles when going up a steep incline . Out on flat lands , I would guess you have at least 40 miles remaining. Also , you need to fill the tank until...
