Air Filter Change = Increased Smoothness?

Found light coat of dust in the down stream air chamber yesterday when checking filter. NOT GOOD for valve seats and cylinder wall/rings. Bike has 13,500miles on original OEM filter. Anyway, I ordered a OEM filter but will be wondering if there is a better solution - oiled foam or oiled...

Photo's of how to get under the Tank

OK, did the spring mod last night and my wrest is happy! Here is what I noticed: There are 5 throttle shaft springs, one controls the main cam that the two throttle cables connect to. It is the spring just to the right of that throttle cam. The other four seem to control individule throttle...

    Rattling windshield on 08

Good tread. Sounds like two different problems: One is that W cover plate that is a bit loose. Douple sided tape could fix it or add some tape to the small tabs that slide into slots on the shield. The other problem is the sliding mechanism deeper inside the front cowling. It is surprizing...

    08 seat

I just pulled the foam from my stock seat and put inplace some left over pieces of packing foam. Made a saddle shape. Stopped the forward "fall" and feels better than stock !!! Go figure. Now I am convinced the BMS or all the others can make a better (and lower seat) since I did it in 1/2hr...

FJR vs Harley V-Rod comparison anyone?

All good comments. Helpful bunch of guys (maybe gals) at this forum! Planning on buying/making offers today. BTW, I had a 05 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 prior to the V-Rod. V-Strom was OK, seemed top heavy, OK corners, but looks was lacking, good wind shield, just not exciting. V-rod is...

FJ13 Stealth Backrest: Any FJ's Near Asheville, NC?

Excellent idea! Look forward to hearing feedback. Say, how about a backrest that easily mounts to the Givi mounting plate. Many of us keep the side bags but don't ride as much with the top box. So for those times, our wives need a backrest that can easily mount in place of the GIVI box...

FJR vs Harley V-Rod comparison anyone?

Jim, We are both Vette owners; mine is the 03 Z06. Brings a sun grin every time I start her. I like your 08 interior. To be fair to Vrod, 2-up at 70mph, we get 42 mpg, if not too hard on the on/off throttle. In 04 or 05, HD went to the 5 gallon tank (under the seat, for low center of...

FJR vs Harley V-Rod comparison anyone?

Thanks FJRChip. Very, very helpful and I can attest to the "gas station" and resturant crowd! But, we want more than good looks in a bike (she, my GF, has that covered); so, we might say goodbye Vrod; hello FJR.

FJR vs Harley V-Rod comparison anyone?

Thanks guys, these replies are confirming what I read. If we were just voting on looks and the quatity of attention, the Vrod would win. In a group ride of all other types of bikes, the Vrod always rx's the most attention. Anyway, looks is nice and the FJR has looks, but the FJR seems to win...

FJR vs Harley V-Rod comparison anyone?

Newbee and Just joined this forum today. All that I've read makes me excited about a FJR to replace a truly great bike, the Harley V-Rod. Can someone provide real life ride comparisons to the V-Rod and a FJR? Mileage, twisties, passenger comfort, rider comfort, etc. I'm 50 and have had bikes...

    Passenger Techniques

My motto with a new passenger, and it works well, is "become one with me." If she (for some reason, I don't care for males on back) is not connected to me, the bike handles like it has flat tires. Sure if we are in long straights, she can lean back and make herself more comfortable. When we...
