I was talking about using the side stand and a floor jack. That's the way I did it. I wish I could find the thread I posted about how I shortened the stands. It's a little detailed, but not that hard to do.

Mine has enough play that it rattles at low speeds over bumps. Not an issue once there's enough of a breeze on it. Not any different from when it was new.
