Error Code 12 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (actually the Starter Motor)

When you press the start button, the ECU expects the engine to begin turning over (starter motor). The ECU was expecting to see a signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor as the engine rotates but never received the signal because the starter was't running. Therefore code 12 "no normal...

YES warranty question about who services bike

The warranty is valid as long as you maintain the bike properly. It can be at a dealer, an independent shop, or by yourself. Just save your service records.

    2012 FJR stalling

You're right. As the wax heats up via coolant the plunger retracts and the idle goes down. The issue usually comes when there is an intermittent or partial blockage in the system. The bike starts to idle too high and someone reaches down and turns the idle adjustment down. Then eventually the...

    2012 FJR stalling

The Idle speed is controlled via coolant that passes from the Radiator to the Throttle Body then back. As the coolant warms there is a small wax bead inside the idle speed controller that gets soft and changes the idle position. The port on the side of the Radiator where these connect trap...

    MD2020

"But do not beat yourself up too much ever, that will not be in your best interest. If you fuck up, so be it. Move on. Don't let that carry over and cause future mistakes because you're too busy punishing yourself for past mistakes that you can't fix." Easier said than done. I tend to ride...

    ECO dash light, Turn off

I don't think there is an official way to disable Eco mode. That being said, I think if you unplug the O2 sensor it *may* render Eco mode inoperable. Can't hurt to try...

Broken Key Question, Number on case lock

The little tag that came on the original key is the ONLY record of your key number. There is a place to write it down on the PDI sheet and in the Owners manual when the bike is new. If it didn't get written down in the Owners manual, you might as well save yourself the trip to the dealer and...

What Should I Ask for 2006?

Damn, that is where I was going to list mine at, and was thinking I would take $3,000 for it. Much less than that and I might as well keep it as a loaner bike for my buddies :-)

What Should I Ask for 2006?

I was a technician at the dealer for well over a decade, and now work for Yamaha. All the maintenance including the engine rebuild were done myself. For the most part I will probably go back to stock before selling it, but I will leave the HID headlights and HID aux lights. The fuel tank is...

What Should I Ask for 2006?

I'm going to buy a 2013 model soon and it got me to thinking about selling my 2006. Anyone have any experience selling a high mileage FJR? I'm trying to decide if I'm going to sell it or part it out. It is a 2006 FJR1300A with 165,000 miles The bike is in good condition and is still my daily...

    Valve Adjustment

I don't know which dealer you took it to. But I work for one of the dealers in your area. If you are paying $600 for the valve adjustment, then you are paying too much. We would charge 4 hours labor at $79/hour for that job which comes out to $316.00
