    Cruise Control Flashing

Had same issue on a 500-mile trip (of course it was a long slab session). Problem was a gunky front brake switch. Cleaned it at the next gas stop, all good.

I'm new here and have a couple of questions on my '13 FJR

Also, the speedometer is out by about 8 km/h, will need to address this as well. Hmm, thats a bit larger error than I see on my 14. My speedo error is about 2 mph faster than GPS-indicated, versus the 5 mph error you observed. I run stock tire sizes.

    '17 ES install Stebel Nautilus

Dual PIAA horns for my 14. No issues except my ham-handed soldering work to join the additional wire for the second hooter. It aint pretty, but it is solidly attached. Second best safety mod Ive done. Best is the Givi LED auxiliary brake light in the top box.

Surprise Ending - What to do with a high mileage 2003 FJR

Best idea ever. Barber museum needed an FJR. The lack was very noticeable.

anyone running the Givi N47nnt on the SR357 Givi rack?

Ditto on the back rest being a smidge too thick. I pulled the cover off and cut the foam down using an electric knife. Stapled the vinyl back on and she was good to go.

So, I Ran Out of Gas...

I've run out of gas, more than once, but many years ago. Now, 2 bars remaining and I look for gas. I've been on 58 towards Barstow, and I take the fuel advice seriously. A nightmare of mine is running out of gas in the middle of BFE. Hell, I don't even let the riding mower run out gas.

3rd Gen ES Suspension Problems Poll

Only way I keep it straight is to flip passenger pegs up or down. Keeps me from riding off with wrong setting. Damping on the fly is awesome.

Self driving car hits motorcycle cop

Been on both sides of this issue. As a software developer for years, AGVs (automated guided vehicles) were an interesting project of mine for a while. Social issues aside, the concept of removing drudge work is tantalizing. But the technology/cost equation has not yet been solved. The level of...

    First Bike?

'64 Honda CB125, given to me as a non-runner. About 3,600 yen ($100 US) got it running. This was 1973, running around on Kanto Mura housing annex, near Tokyo. Yes, driving on the left. Took the MSF course at Tachikawa AFB. Been riding on the street ever since. Immediately got a job to finance...

    (split) What is PAIRS system?

One of the first things I did to my '14 was to replace PAIRS with Winnpro block-off plates. No codes, no issues of any kind. Did that right after installing new exhaust cans.

Average FJR Guy Riding style: Poll Part II

I like to think I'm smarter than my youthful riding days in Germany, straffing the excellent roads of the Aachen/Koln/Dusseldorf region in the late '70s. I have slowed down to a brisk but mostly legal pace, especially when two-up. Crashed several times in Germany, all but one my fault. Dropped...

Anatomy of Gen III Fly By Wire TPS

Just shy of 25k miles on that TPS. Alan, excellent analysis and write-up. Thank you; it's good to know the problem was real. I've put 3k miles on the new TPS, all good so far.

    Stumble/surging on 2014

My take-off TPS was mailed to ionbeam this morning. Hopefully an examination of the part will show us something. Thanks to ionbeam for taking the time to check it out.

    Stumble/surging on 2014

I had the same symptoms. Search in Tech/Mech folder for "Intermittent" for some background info, and in Bill's thread for a real nightmare. Short version: my issue was resolved with a Throttle Position Sensor replacement. Part number 2S3-85885-00, $101 from Boatsdotnet. Took three weeks to...

    Corbin All Day Seat Mod

It's all relative. I put a Corbin on a 929 and it was a significant improvement. Did a 600-mile day, 2-up, and several 400-milers, in nearly reasonable comfort. Then the '05 came along and we rode the stock seat for 44k miles. The RDL on the '14 is all-day comfortable, just had to solve the...

Kids, tell it like it is

Little Larry The Fighter Pilot A teacher asks the kids in her 3rd grade class: "What do you want to be when you grow up? Little Larry says: "I wanna start out as a Fighter Pilot, then be a billionaire, go to the most expensive clubs, find me the finest whore, give her a Ferrari worth over a...

    2014 Stumble on accel.

Bill, I had the same symptoms, a stumble between 3 and 4 K RPM, on cruise control or not, any gear. Based on research on this site and in the Yamaha shop manual, the most likely cause was the TPS. I had no codes, diagnostic tests were all in spec. Other symptoms I noticed included deterorating...
