    Corbin Smuggler / Cerulean Silver

yes the elusive used Corbin Smuggler. Traded the the FJR in, so I am posting the remaining farkles as I get my act together to take pictures. This was on my 2006 AE and I always felt it was one of the best things I ever put on it. In very good condition, may have a couple marks on it from being...

Michelin Pilot Road 3's are sublime

Yeah, I see your laughing emoticon, so I know you were just goofing. Obvioulsy nobody would buy tires with less grip on the sides. But it does raise the point that, if you are wearing out the sides of your tires like topanga, it might make more sense to run less expensive single compound tires...

Michelin Pilot Road 3's are sublime

it looks worse than the reality, it happened on the way home and the next stop was to get them changed. Although I guess that's 15-16 miles or so. Still, it always catches me by surprise. I've had that happen on nearly all the PRs (like 10 sets I think). I always hope I can make it to the next...

Michelin Pilot Road 3's are sublime

My experience wasn't so great. This is the front less than 4k. I hated them the entire time, I thought they were much less sticky than the PR2s. The PR2's are a better tire IMHO, although to be fair I never rode the PR3s in rain. As a side note I've also run through a set of Avons (they were...

    Difference between A and AE

I am about to put my 2006 up for sale, not because I don't like it, but I usually change bikes every 2 years. I've kept the AE for 4 because I like the clutch so much, in fact I'll really miss it when it's gone. Maintenance? Perfectly reliable, and one could argue that the clutch would last...

Update on my Avon Storm Ultra 2's

My first set of Avon Storm Ultra 2s and it looks like milage is no better than the PR2s for me. My front is almost shot on the sides @ 3500 miles. The rear isn't fairing any better. Center has tread still, but the sides are already nearly gone. Rats, I was hoping for 5-6k at least. Now the...

Michelin Pilot Road 3 - 1 yr report

I love posting these. 5k miles, (and they sucked for the last 1k) My 1st & last set from last summer. Avon's for me from now on looks like.

Michelin PR 3's out any day now

A fair question in fat America, but I am 6' 1" @ 190 and in shape. I don't carry passengers hardly ever, rarely have the panniers on, givi trunk, never overloaded. I do live in a canyon, so I am 8 miles of twisties in and out nearly everyday. I've gone back to PR2s, which get about the same...

Michelin PR 3's out any day now

Believe me I wish it weren't. But it is. I've never gotten more than that on any of the PRs (safely), but the 3s were decidedly crappier overall for me than the 2s. Hated them. YMMV

Michelin PR 3's out any day now

Ok, time to throw some water on this. My first & last set of PR3's @ 5000 miles. Yes 5000 miles. If you live anywhere with curves, the tires will wear very quickly off on the sides. The front caught me totally by surprise.

Michelin PR 3's out any day now

They probably have another k or so in the middle, but the sides are completely gone.

Michelin PR 3's out any day now

Ok, I just burned through my first, and last, set of PR3's. 4k miles. I hated them, they aren't as sticky as PR2s IMHO, didn't last any longer and I am not going to pay a premium for them anymore.

    Windshield Screw Replacements

I took the windshield off to wax behind it and there it was sheered off. If it was overtightened, got me, it was the stock windshield and I had never touched it. Nor am I trying to replace it with metal screws, I was just checking whether a M5 .8mm pitch 20mm plastic replacement was ok since...
