Idling -- '13+ FJRs vs earlier models

Hey Mesh, might be something as simple as the engine being "heat soaked". You've turned it off and the coolant is no longer circulating. I read somewhere that heat soaked fuel injected engines will "lean out", while carburated engines richen during the same process.

2006 Altitude recall question on my new to me FJR

Hey smitty, good going ! BTW, I take it there is no ignition immobilizer on yer bike? I say this because, up here, the key has to be "re-registered" to the new ECU code, or else nuthin gonna happen.

2006 Altitude recall question on my new to me FJR

smitty, with all due respect for our fellow Feejer owners who have responded so far, I gotta say...be careful with this one. If yer going a mighty ways uphill, I suggest the ECU upgrade. It can be very unpredictable how the bike will respond to altitude, and it's different for all riders...

    Spring start-up

Hey 900, we live up here in the interior of BC and we get a real winter. The "batts" were all good, as I've always been a stickler about proper maintenance. Still, it's a fair comment on your part. In my case, both my previous feejers were bought new, and they always gave me grief come spring...

    Spring start-up

Just brought the bike out of hibernation....hasn't run since Oct 15' 15, and I am happy to report, the ES started right up, after only 2 or 3 crankshaft rotations. What a relief, I gotta say. My earlier FJRs (04 and 07) were terrible to get going after a long cold winter layoff in an unheated...

Front end vibration, especially on decelleration

That's an entirely new one on me (center stand spring?)...never heard of that supposed phenom b4 ! My first FJR had the front end shake, only on deceleration regardless of type of tires and condition, and only when I let go of the bars. In some cases, a loose steering head bearing is responsible.

    Front brake issue

SKat, if it's a light/mild vibration, consider it to be normal. I have experienced that on all 2 of my FJRs, but only at low speeds as I approach the stop. I am pretty sure it's the movement of the floating discs (horizontally) in concert with the split brake pads.

    Only in Canada you say!

Well, not quite. yamaha Canada has finally announced on their site the `16 FJR and the new XSR900. What took them so long?! https://www.yamaharedline.ca/redline2/newsletter.cfm?x_newsID=8F04E964-B446-01CA-9B91-9448194F3C4F

2016 Is Official 6-spd, Slipper, LEDs, Analog Tach, Price

No shortage of opinion on the new bike. I see nothing to whine about really. All the FJRs over time have been great creations. I must admit, when I saw that new blue and read about a 6 speed box, I was captivated to the point that for a brief moment, I wished I had waited another year b4 I...

    FJR in Europe

Nevermind, I stand corrected...seems after doing a proper amount of research, there is no hide nor hair of a 2016 FJR ! Old age creeping up I guess.

    Latest MCN review

Warp. I would agree that the test bike was fairly new. When I drove my new bike out of the dealer showroom last spring, I was shocked at how tight the tranny was...it was difficult to shift actually. But, I sorta know the mechanism needed time and distance to come around. Last time I went...

    FJR in Europe

Just spied the show across the pond. Specifically the Yamaha exhibit...it's a virtual tour. It takes some time and fiddling, but you will see the FJR ! Just visit Yamaha Europe

Is the ES suspension upgrade worth going from a 2013 to a 2015?

Totally agree with the response. In addition, I swear the ES is a much better handling machine than my `07 was, just by virtue of the upgraded suspension components. Turn-in, tracking and exiting are all improved with the new set up ! Oops, almost forgot to mention the B023 tires,,,,they may...

    Sharing a few thoughts

Great responses all, to my post. BTW, I still manage to average over 10,000 kms per year. That might seem not that much to some of you younger riders out there, but for me, it's an important milestone of sorts! Safe journey everyone !

    Sharing a few thoughts

Hello riders...it's the closing of the riding season around here for me. The bikes are put away for the winter after the annual prepare for storage routine. As some of you already know, early this year I bought my 3rd FJR, after an '07 and my very first Yamaha, the '04. I can not emphasize...

    Leather verses Vinyl Seat Covers

What I wonder is, would the leather get sopping wet from rain as opposed to the water-proofed vinyl ?
