We've had a number of people inquire about the "personal tracking device" requirement for the HW3 rally. If you do not have an actual Spot unit (although we highly recommend it) , there are options available for smart phones that can be used instead. For Android based phones, there is an app called Bubbler GPS (https://bubblergps.com/), and for Iphones, there is an app called Followmee (followmee.com). Both of these will be acceptable for use during the rally.
We still have spots left - hope to see you there!
SWConnect is also a good iPhone app that allows viewing of location in Spotwalla if the RM approves it's use.

SWConnect will work as well. As long as it works with Spotwalla.

Add another FJR to the list

First rally without the super tanker, we have major expectations.

Got the route planned out and ready to ride, should be a fun time thru some beautiful country. Hope to meet some of you there.

Final standings below for the HW3 finishers. Congrats to Rod Schween, Erik Lipps and Craig Brooks on their respective podium finishes. There were some very impressive rides ridden, and some toasty looking riders. But, lot's of smiling faces at the end of the ride. After banging out 1765 miles of mostly CO mountain riding, Erik Lipps slept through the awards banquet  .

Somewhat better Justin, but my wife would like to know the COLORS of the bikes? I have a BMW Dakar sitting in the garage she won't ride ... Because it was not yellow. So dog gone it, colors?

And a big congrats to Erik !

Here's the MAN.

I've had a couple of Vulcan 750s, can't even imagine doing a 200 mile day on them.

Bill Norris is an awesome rider and a good friend. What he does on that Vulcan defies physics.

Pleased to see that I came in second on the "revised" list, and the only list that really matters :D

Really guys, it was an awesome weekend, and after my first real ride on the FJR we are now friends ... even though I bent her a bit :)

"You broke it, you own it".

On reflection, it appears that Erik just got lucky ... He has a black FJR, and mine is the prettier blue!

Bill is a good rally rider, and impresses me with his performance on that little Vulcan. He had the 3rd or 4th most efficient route of the riders.

Who would have thunk it, my RT didn't break down.......yet. She's only got 63K miles so far so it's still early. I do secretly yearn for an FJR though. Maybe when she gets 100k on her. That new FJR ES David Walls was riding sure looked sharp. 5 of the top 10 riders on BMW's though including my RT at 6th.
