I have searched the forum, for the last couple of hours for anything involving fuel cell gas line. If the following has been discussed please point me to the post.

Because of the switch to Fuel injection in the hot rod world. They have been using Nylon fuel line for the last 10 or so years. It is sold by Jegs in different sizes. Part number for 5/16 is 555-159225 for example.

Here are just a few of the reasons why:

1) It handles the rail pressures of fuel Injection.

2) It is compatible with Ethanol based fuel.

3) Small outside diameters.

4) The inside diameters are truer to size.

5) It is easily formed and makes small radius's.

6) It handles outside heat sources.

Nylon seems to be a perfect product for fuel cell plumbing.

Why isn't it used?

Or even discussed as a alternative?

Is it not approved, by the IBA?

What's everyone thoughts on using Fuel Injection Tubing instead of

rubber hose, for the cell plumbing?

Why isn't it used?
I think it's mostly because of one of the reasons you didn't include.

7) It's $13.99 a foot (if I read the Jeg's website correctly)

Since fuel cells are gravity feed pressures aren't an issue, regular fuel line is compatible with 10% ethanol fuel, and regular fuel line lasts at least 10 years given the heat under the tank or exposure to the elements. The radius point is possibly interesting, but the inside diameter of the hose isn't the limiting factor of the system. It's usually the tank coupling and or barbs along the way.

I've seen it used before and certainly not an IBA issue....its just 'spensive.

I believe it is $13.99 for 10 feet.
Might be. I was thinking you were talking about a different type of line. So, this stuff is Nylon? If so, doesn't that breaks down in sunlight....I'm not sure if it does as much as rubber.

Have you thought about silicone fuel line?
