Well, I was really wanting to do this ride, but due to some family commitments later in the week that I simply cannot miss, it looks like this one would be trying to cram too much in at this time. Still looking forward to meeting up with you guys at nafo and sharing some miles.

Hi Tony,

I was just up on Mt. Evans last Wednesday.

I did the ride from Pikes Peak last year and have been thinking about doing it from Mt. Evans this year. Mind if I join you? What time are you planning on gas in Idaho Springs Tuesday morning?

I met you at Hoagy's SS2k ride in Texas a few years ago, looking forward to seeing you again.

CRAP!! I wish I could join you guys. The last time I rode to Death Valley was in February. It was on a Goldwing and I got sick! I will have my FJR out there this time!

Rich,

Great! Do you have any suggestions for a place to stay in Idaho Springs? The motels have varied reviews in town there. Is it better to stay in Blackhawk?

The casino is like 11 floors? Just trying to find time to get ready for this one… 12 hour work days are keeping me very busy.

I haven't stayed in Idaho Springs, but rooms anywhere along that I-70 corridor will be expensive on the weekend, but you can probably get good room rates in Blackhawk during the week. Ameristar and The Lodge are nice.

Justin P ran a rally out of the Georgetown Mountain Inn in Georgetown, CO. Not too far down the road and while not luxury, it is well run and you can park right outside the rooms.

There will be plenty of choices in Western Denver as well.

Nice pics!

I'm glad we ascended that road when it was still dark

A few pics from the ride:

The start (530 am ish)

Nice timing for the sunrise:

A stop for the "Gold" version:

Delays, delays…

Badwater Basin has been taken off of possible retirement locations:

Thanks goes out to: Carl (griff) and Rich (South Coast) For doing the ride with me. Craig (NTXFJR) Who started with us and peeled off on his own ride down the road.

Carl and Rich stayed to get TOH boni while I headed to the cooler elevation of Flagstaff, AZ for an Iron Butt Motel rest:

But not until watching the beauty and reward of the nights ride with a nice sunrise!

I left Flagstaff and rode to a morning arrival near Monroe, LA where I spent 3 or so days catching up with an old friend…

I've got a few pictures from that ride. Nice meeting and riding with you guys. I finished up over a month on the road, and just got my paperwork done and mailed off today,,,,for 6 more rides.

Everybody busy at the top.

No rain in Nevada, but the cloud cover kept the temps down a little compared to my ride last year.

My weather on the phone lied to me. It said it would be 105 in Badwater, it was a little bit warmer than that!
