How much force? Easy...pass a car really close going about 20 mph faster.

How much pressure does it take to fold in the hard bags I can't seem to do it?
I've tried twice, (once on each side) no luck. Then five minutes after the last try Skyway says watch this. He couldn't do it either. :bleh: :p :bleh:

Folding side bags out of the way:

1: Insert key to lock mechanism

2: Rotate lock as if to open bag. (But don't open the bag)

3: Firmly grab recessed handle next to lock mechanism

4: Lift straight up

5: Place side bag in what you consider a safe place.

6: There - The side bag is folded out of the way

Helps when splitting lanes at a high rate of speed but can't see the cop behind you. PM <><

Reminds me of something a buddy of mine used to say: "No cop, no stop." :D

Which reminded me of a car that had a bumpersticker that read: "Bad Cop. No Donut."

I mean, why not just beg to be written up? :bleh:

I "rubbed" a Ford Escort with my bags (well, only one bag) and they didn't seem to fold. Maybe I should have tried a Ford Explorer?

Seems those mirror stalks are pretty stout. I've never folded mine, but it seems they are stiff enough that if they get hit, the mirror part would break anyway.

Anyone? More details on "mirror mishaps"?

The side bags bold in and up if you apply enough force. They don't, however, fold back again. :dribble:

For you gents asking about the bags...

If you spin the rear wheel (a little too much throttle) while in wet grass - as expected - the bike spins out. What happens to the bags is the one that makes contact with the grass spins up and flips upside down (rotates from rear to front).

Point of attachment one being the latch at the top of the bag and the point of attachment two being the "holder" at the bottom front of the bag, it seems that the bag rotated around attachment two, while attachment one just popped out.

No visible damage and haven't had any issues with it since then (around 7-8k miles) - this includes some high-speed desert romps. :haha:

And you found out about this feature when you....?
To fold the left side mirror takes about 500lbs of force. It's real easy. Just do a U-turn ignoring ALL the principles you've learned. The bike will gracefully lie down and the mirror will fold. A side effect of this manouver is that your face turns BRIGHT red. Once the bike is righted, the mirror snaps back into place with ease.

Actually, it doesn't take that much force. They don't fold "up" or "back", but fold upwards toward the rear at approximately 45 degrees. Once you've seen them folded or, uhm, inadvertently folded them :) , you'll understand.
