I picked up my brand new 2008 in April of this year. I have been living in a different state due to work so I haven't got to put many miles on it so far. I took it on my first big trip and noticed when I got there that my stock Bridgestone front tire has no tread left. I'm already down even to the wear strips on both sides and the center still has a little tread remaining, but not much before it's is smooth as well. The rear tire looks almost new, good tread and everything. My previous bike I ran Dunlops and was able to get about 17-20k out of my front and 10-12k out of the rear. I don't ride that aggressively and have never been hard on the front or back brakes. I check my tire pressure once or twice a month, since it usually sits for a few weeks at a time. Tire pressure was at 39 per the manual (measured cold) before I left on the trip and after I returned. I like to ride the twisties, but again, not overly aggressive. I checked the brake pads on the front and all seem to be at almost new thickness so I don't think it's a stuck caliper. Has anyone ever heard of a bad tire that wears too quickly? I plan to call the dealer tomorrow, to see what they say about a warranty claim. I understand tires as a normal wear and tear item, but after only 3k and no signs of misuse, I'm going to see what they come up with... We'll see.
