That's a plausible explanation, just haven't seen any reports of corrosion occurring inside the crankcase except for old chainsaws or VWs stored for years on end behind some barn shed.

I don't break down engines on a daily basis either but the few internals I've seen have been pristine.

 
..and don't forget to de-critter all the ingress/egress passages... lest ye find a rats nest in the airbag or mufflers or....

 
I use Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment all year in every tank of gas, I also keep my C-Teck battery charger on my battery any time I not riding at home, on the road traveling is a little hard to do. My bike is an 2008 and I just put a new battery in, In Dec 2014
