I left a message and a email requesting I be put on the group buy list at the current best price, but don't want product shipped until it's clear that product will fit my Gen I just fine. Await an answer about that before end of day today as I'll be out of pocket tomorrow and don't know if they'll be available or a person working to answer tomorrow being Sat. I have a mission for my friend to attend and coordinate tomorrow as well and will not have my cell phone turned up.
The imperfect fit of the current received product of one does not give me warm fuzzys and I hope they'll give us time to gain confidence in the fittment issues for both Gen II and Gen I, while extending the group buy prices and sales requirements / conditions the same other than the deadline.

I really think all the work and effort here will come to fruition to all of us buyers and potential buyers and appreciate all partys efforts in this matter. :clapping: :yahoo:

I'll post if and when something happens with this situation.

Cheers,

Mike in Nawlins'
I bit the bullet and made the sale just now (Jan 31 at 4pm Central)

Both sets - front and back $300 clams in Black

I'm Gen I (2004)

Hoping to hear what Vol has to say about his before mine are shipped

Thanx all,

Mike in Nawlins'

Hey guys. I was able to take a few more pictures today and I thought I would post them in case anyone is still wanting more details about looks, mounting, etc. Anyway, here are a couple and a link to the gallery.

Enjoy!

The rest are here.

And a couple more wide shots are here.

Well that was fun....

The group buy has officially ended. That being said I'm fairly certain racing905 will still take your order in the next couple of days...

If you do order please post up or shoot me a PM. I'm still tracking FJR purchases from this site and others.

So far racing905 has been outstanding with communications in both directions. They are working on making what ever adjustments need to be made.

If anyone with an AE or even a Gen one can swing by their shop that would be helpful.

It's actually very refreshing to see a vendor standing behind their work and products.

How many buyers with a Gen II have the wild bill pegs? Will they work together?

I'll have mine whenever they arrive...I'm just asking to plan the install in advance...maybe I won't use the front set...

Interesting, hadn't really thought of that. I gave up my wild bill pegs a while ago, they were really just shin bashers for me. I never scraped them, just didn't think they provided me with enough of an alternate position.

I have highway pegs from my aluminum sliders now which better fit my needs. Those of course will have to go.

My plan is to simply mount to the new crash bars.

From Duff's picture of the stator cover it's pretty clear to me that the Wild Bill pegs will not clear the bar. Even if they did, your foot would have to go through the bar to rest on the peg.

As others have alluded, clamp-on pegs on the bar itself would be the way to go.

Anyone else installed the fronts yet? Post up when you do. Mine are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and I need to know if I should contact racing905 right away about them not fitting, or wait till it warms up a bit so I can try them on myself. To damn cold in my garage to work on bike yet.

I just got a great email from Stephanie at racing905.

1: They are aware of the tweaks and have worked with Duff to get them corrected. I suspect if they've sent you bars that need 'tweaked' they'll swap them out.

2: They are still trying to track down an AE, they have pictures but can't tell from them if the bars will fit or not. They have tried to locate a bike at a nearby dealer but apparently the didn't have one. So again if anyone can swing by with an AE that will be greatly appreciated.

3: Someone named 'Roy' is swing by with his Gen 1 so they can test fit the bars and if they don't fit, they'll know what to adjust to make a Gen 1 specific set.

All good news. I suspect if the tweaks or changes for the Gen 1 bikes is significant they'll add some time to the buy for Gen 1'ers :)

So far this vendor has really gone above and beyond.

I couldn't tell from the photos. It almost appears as though it will work. I just bought the stuff from Wild Bill in January :)

If I can get them to fit with minor mods to the foot pegs I'll keep them. Otherwise, I may skip the fronts...who knows. When I get them I'll make that decision.

My other concern is my geelong stator cover......

Why weren't these things imagined prior to all of my front-stuff-protection farkling????

Murphy, that's why...

There will always be a market for the wild bill pegs even if you don't use them. I bought mine used, used them for a year and sold them for what I paid for them.

While I never felt like they could cause me to wreck in a corner, I do know about the damage they can cause in a wreck and wasn't real excited about that. But I'm still using my aluminum (venderwho'snamewedon'tspeak) sliders or togs and we do know what they can cause in an accident.

These bars will solve all of my problems, or at least that's the plan.

It sounds like they might be trying to adjust front AND rear to work on both styles.

I'll be in for a rear set if it works out, and I imagine many more Gen I buyers will come aboard. :yahoo:

That might have something to do with the 30 buyers already in. They see a market!

I didn't have much trouble selling my Motovation slider kit for what the front bar set will cost me.

And I'll probably have some Sampson Highway Pegs to sell toward a rear bar set, if it works out....

Just wondering aloud about things, I wonder if Yamaha's knowing that a good crash bar set exists in the US would allow them to go after more LEO bike contracts?

Talk about a possible group buy!!!

Oh, the are well aware... George was clear that he looked at the bars used over seas and modeled after their bars with improvements. So bars have been available for a long time, just not locally. If they were to get a deal for any Police dept, you know they'd get the bars from where ever was appropriate.

It's been about a week since ordering and still waiting so expect them to arrive soon. I've got the wild Bill pegs so will definitely find out if can make work with the protectors. I do use them but may not need them after mounting the protectors if can use them for a foot rest or mount other sliders off the upper area in the pics.

I wish I were closer, I'd get my AE down there ASAP. When did these start shipping out?

Just... I was the first to get them and we are waiting to see how others fair.

On another note: The vendor has mentioned Delrin (sp?) sliders that they are working on as an add-on option for these. I'm looking forward to that!

I have not heard anything else from them since my conversation Friday afternoon, but they have my number, my pictures and they know I am willing to help.

Someone else get their bars already!
