This will cost you just a feeeewwww dollars more, but buy the FJR, then immediately go buy a Goldwing to park next to the FJR. Problem solved.
Glad I was able to help. No charge for my advice either, this one's on me. ;)
Definitely no 'wrestling' necessary with a Goldwing, it surely can handle (quite well I might add) any road the FJR will and can keep up with many a sport bike. Just want to clarify as to not mislead anyone here and give the 'old man' bike a bad reputation :)
I absolutely love my FJR, but...
Yup, don't buy a wing quite yet until you've mastered the FJR. Here's the thread. Lot's of good advice. https://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237208&page=2&highlight=ride+clutch
No problem. The FJR is my around town bike. GL1800 Goldwing for the really long hauls.
As some others have said, I agree it's very well balanced for the slow speed maneuvering stuff.
Excuse me, but I'm new around here. Are you guys serious about keeping your bike 'bone stock'? Or maybe am I just missing some 'playful sarcasm' here? I personally think the OP's bike project is awesome and well done. Jeez - I hope you don't chase guys like this away.
