BC Ferries runs frequent sailings back to the mainland from both Sidney and Nanaimo. Also motorcycles have priority loading with BC Ferries, so it is rare to not be able to get onto a sailing.
A trick I do, if I have any concerns about putting something back together is to take pictures as I take it apart.
Then you can reverse engineer it as you put it back together.....eh
+1 I tested the plastic screws on my get-off. They work as designed.... they snapped, which got the screen out of my my body's path. Both the screen and the 'W' survived remarkably well.
