    Russel Day Long

Greetings from a former FJR owner... I now own a Wing and there is a member on the GL1800Riders.com board trying to organize a group buy for the RDL seat. I purchased my RDL for my FJR in a GB on this board a few years ago and the response was very good for that GB (I think we had over 100 for...

Cruise Control and Heated Grips... at last

They come standard on my new Wing I brought home today... yip, I did it, traded in the FJR for a GoldWing. I will miss the power and handling, but the Wing still has two wheels and I expect to have just as much fun on it as I did the FJR. You all have been great with answering questions and this...

Throwing a big Thanks to a couple of forum members....

I've often read of the generosity of forum members, complete strangers coming to the aid of people they've only met on this forum. I recently got the chance to be the recipient of the afore mentioned generosity of two of the forums members. A week ago I dropped my bike getting it out of the...

    Wow. These things are heavy.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Getting the bike out of the garage and down we went. My driveway has a slight slope to it and backing the bike out is always a gamble. I've been expecting to drop it into the side of my car, but this is bad enough. Thanks to our exposed aggregate drive...

    Russell seat...

So, I received my Russell seat last Tuesday and luckily the weather co-operated Friday and Saturday for me to ride and then for the wife and I to take a short ride. Short story, I do know that my wife will never let the pillion seat go as she loves it. She sits up a little higher, but says she...

seat's gone... 75 frickin degrees today.

Boxed up the seat yesterday for shipping to Russell for it's magical conversion. Turns out yesterday and today both in the upper 70's here in central Illinois. Bummer... didn't expect Russell's to be so quick on a production date with 100 people in the group buy, but the production date is this...

    KonTour Seats...

Lurking over on one of the BMW sites and came across several who mentioned the KonTour custom seat. I am on the group buy for the Russel seat (on the BMW site) and I have read all the good things about Russel, but was wondering if anyone here has/had a seat made by KonTour?

    turn signals flashing rapidly

Thought maybe a bulb was burned out, but all bulbs are ok. Running lights work ok as well. The left one started intermittently, sometimes would flash ok, then rapidly now just rapdily. Now the right side has started. I'm guessing a bad relay? Any ideas?

    Second Skin Tank Protector

Got in on the group buy for the Second Look Tank protector. Received it yesterday, tried putting it on and the stretch cable broke... anyone else have this happen? Wasn't keen on the way it installed anyway. Don't like the idea of having to take the silver trim piece off every time you want to...

    hot feet...

Wondering if any of you have this problem... my heels become uncomfortably hot during any ride 20 minutes or longer. I am currently wearing Wolverine brand boots. The heel of the boot isn't hot to the touch, but my heel gets so hot I find myself hanging my boots off the very edge of the peg to...

    cold start/rough idle/mis-fire

Thought I'd see if you all had any ideas... I've noticed lately when I start the bike up in the mornings that it idles really rough, "clunks" once or twice (mis-fire?), and smells rich. After it runs for 10 or 15 seconds it comes out of it, and runs fine the rest of the time. Only happens when...

    tires/back rest.

recently bought a set of MPR 2's and finally got them mounted (thanks Scott) and I am really liking these tires. Only about 300 miles so far, but I really noticed a difference when riding two up. The bike felt much more stable and planted. I'm hoping the mileage is up there like everyone is...

    stuff...

Hello all, I don't post alot (I'm the strong, silent type... ok, maybe just silent), but I read this forum everyday. Thought I would do some catch up on the 08. I have 5000 miles on it now and I do enjoy the bike every time I ride it. Plan on doing some longer trips this year with my buddy and...

    Why I clean my bike...

The wife and I went for a 2 hour ride yesterday (one of the few nice days left in central Illinois I am afraid), so I thought I would clean the bike up for the week. Cleaning away on the forks and I kept hearing a slight rattle... got to looking around and noticed one of the bolts missing at the...

    Case of the mystery part...

Noticed last week that I was missing the rubber stop for one of the luggage cases. According to the instructions that came with the cases, the rubber stops were to be glued on. Apparently, the "tech" who set the bike up missed that part as the remaining stop was not glued on either (it is now) ...

2 months into the new bike...

Hello everyone, I now have 2500 miles on my 08. Ridden it mostly to work but, have done a couple of 200+ mile excursions with my buddy down to Grafton Il and up the river road to Alton. Survived 1st oil change and gear oil change... whew. Put the sliders, Vista Cruise, and MagNite tank...

    TB sync/dealer charge...

Ok, so I have 1200 on the bike and I've noticed that it is starting to run a little rough just off-idle and it actually back-fired while backing off the throttle from around 3500 rpm in 1st gear. I've read the merits of doing a TBS and have a friend that has the necessary knowledge and tools so...

    Brought the FJR home Wednesday...

What a thrill is was to get on a bike again... and what a bike to get on. First item on the agenda after getting it home was to de-badge, which I do to all my rides. For those that do or are going to do this, I suggest using dental floss (wear some gloves or that stuff will slice your finger tip...

Eligiable for new phone and I had a thought...

I received notification that I am eligible for a new phone upgrade and on the message was an image of a phone with a gps screen and that got me to wondering... Has or does anyone use a gps/navigation enabled phone with maybe an intecom for voice directions? I would love to have gps, but do not...

    Garage Door Opener

SITHBPB... has anyone come up with a clever way to mount/hide a garage door remote? Too bad bike manufacturers have not come up with a clever way to program a button some where on the bike like car manufacturers do with the programmable buttons on rear-view mirrors to open garage doors. Eight...
