    Life of the Long-Distance Rider

Hello! I had this idea for a short talk at the NAFO Banquet on Saturday evening. I think it would be neat to hear some of the adventures (and misadventures?) of someone who rides long distances. Perhaps some insight into why you enjoy long, long rides; how you stay mentally alert during that...

MARKET SQUARE DISTRICT -- from hotel it is a 16 minute walk or a 3 minute drive. “Conceived in 1853 as a canny real-estate scheme by two young investors expecting to get rich off the idea, Market Square came to be Knoxville’s most public spot, a marketplace familiar to every man, woman, and...

If you live in TN or NC or near its borders . . .

The state of Tennessee is sending me 100 road maps free of charge, and NC is sending me 50. I was hoping to put one of each in each registrant's bag. Just wondering if there are a few of you out there who would be willing to stop by a welcome center and pick up a few road maps to add to the...

    Toys for Tots Ride 12/14/08

Jay and I gear up and leave the house around 9:45 a.m. Skies clear, temperature around 60 F. I head for the ATM on my scooter while Jay gasses up his FJR, then down the road. We arrive at Clutch Bar & Grill around 10:45, after having some trouble finding it … the map we located online showed it...

It's 9 am. The odometer on the scooter says 69 miles. The temperature is in the mid-60's and it's sunny as I head out onto Lynnhaven Parkway. As I sit at the left-turn signal at the intersection of Lynnhaven and Centerville Turnpike, I see the first police officer, on a motorcycle. We wave. Then...

    Just Us Chix

The FJR weighs over 600 pounds. How do you keep it from falling over when you are stopped, and if it starts to lean too far, how do you stop it from hitting the ground? Also, if it does fall over, how do you pick it back up?!
