    Question About Givi Luggage Rack

Yes you can be certain that your trunk will fit the rack, but you cannot be certain that the rack will fit your bike, because the racks are specific to each bike model. So the topcases are one-size-fits-all, in that any Monokey topcase fits any Monokey toprack, but the racks are bike-specific.

    405 closure

HOV lanes are always great news for us motorcycle riders. Glad they're doing this.

Does anyone in SoCal have a Russell seat?

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like it should be low enough that I can at least swing a leg over. This will be for a new bike (a K1600GT) and I'll wait for it to arrive (July or earlier) since it would make the long highway commute easy. (I currently ride an FZ1 that I had replaced my FJR...

Does anyone in SoCal have a Russell seat?

It probably won't help me much but I might as well take a look, even if it proves too tall to even sit on, since you're very close.

    Lost a Dealer

Yeah, some people had deposits there for pre-orders on the BMW K1600GT/L. The pre-orders are safe but I don't know what happened to their actual deposits. On the other hand California law requires all deposits to be refundable; maybe that trumps bankruptcy?

Does anyone in SoCal have a Russell seat?

I may take you up on that offer in a month or so when I have more time. Can you take a photo of the shorter seat, especially a side-view shot?

Does anyone in SoCal have a Russell seat?

I'm thinking of ordering a Russell on my next bike though I'm only 5'6. I was wondering if anyone anywhere in SoCal had a Russell (ideally not a very high one) that they wouldn't mind me sitting on.

    Lane Sharing question for Cali

I've certainly had people slowly squeeze me or try somewhat to cut me off, but that's it. Nothing actually blatantly malicious and nothing that actually prevented me from passing. I've never had anyone actually touch the dashed white line for example, and frankly for all I know they may just be...

Now THIS Honda I can get on board with!

Guys, Honda did not build this bike - a custom bike builder did. And yes it was at the Long Beach show. Quite a few manufacturers displayed custom modifications of their bikes at their booths but they're obviously not build by the companies themselves.

Shorai light weight Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries

LiFePO4 is much better than lithium-ion as far as longevity and safety goes, by the way. Lithium-ion is a bit lighter and smaller but is worse in other ways. And the price, while high, seems reasonable, considering just normal lead-acid batteries are like $100+ in that size.

Ride to Long Beach International Motorcycle Show, Dec 18

Certainly there were few riders to the show, though there were some. I drove but I no longer have a good all-weather bike like the FJR. There were a number of new models shown at the show, in particular the elusive K1600GT/L which seems really intriguing (will almost certainly be my next bike)...

    BMW K1600GT & GTL

SEMA is an automotive show. I think the next shows the bike will appear in are EICMA next week and the Long Beach motorcycle show mid-December.

    BMW K1600GT & GTL

The weight quoted is inaccurate - the K1600GT is 703 lbs wet without side bags - figure close to 740 lbs with them. Basically it's 80 lbs heavier than the FJR, but with a probably narrower seat and certainly a much lower seat (optionally); the lowest seat available is the GTL seat which is...

    Fjr Centerstand

I think the OP is referring to people that insist on parking the bike on the centerstand at all times out of fear it will fall over if left on the side-stand.

    F'ing Thieves F'ing SUCK!!

You can kill someone with a shot to the leg. A couple of tires is petty theft but airboss handled it fine by just scaring them away (though they were fleeing anyway). You should never kill anyone who's fleeing. That's vengeance, not justice.

    Helmet Lock

You want these. It works great and is very fast and easy to use. Use it with a Helmet Guardian which you can get from TwistedThrottle.com. You'll just need a helmet with a D-ring attachment system (which most use).

    Givi v. Shad Topcase

I have a Shad SH-50 and previously used a Givi V46. The Shad is better in every way. The best thing about it is that you don't have to use a key to open or close it if you don't want to, and it's actually reasonably secure even when unlocked because the way to open it is not obvious. And its...

    Yamaha Sales Predicted Down 20%

People never seem to understand how the economy works. Look at this. At one point in 2007 $1 = 124 yen. Now $1 = 87 yen. That means the dollar is only worth 70% of what it was worth three years ago, relative to the yen. So something that cost $10k in 2007 would have to caust $14300 for the same...

Grandma got a slap on the hand

It does sound more like it is the motorcyclists' fault after all. They now sound like stereotypical bar-hopping no-gear-wearing HD riders. Maybe the driver crossed the center line to try to avoid one of the motorcyclists that was on her side of the road? Frankly though, even if there were no...
