I dropped mine too plus it was knocked over once so this might be the problem. Now, if I can just figure out how to tell if everything is as it should be or what needs to adjusted.

A good idea. Actually, I had (sort of) been blaming the problem on a possible imbalance in the saddlebags content. However, I've completely unloaded the bags and the problem remains.

The manual is actually a bit vague (in my checking so far). The testing seems to amount to putting the sidestand down and then raising to see if the motor stalls out when shifting into first (in down position). The manual seems to suggest replacing as the only option.

In my posting above, I incorrectly stated: "...if I shift into Neutral (clutch in), the motor immediately dies." Once I had posted and reread, I was unable to correct my typo. It should have read: "...if I shift into First (clutch in), the motor immediately dies." Sorry about the typo.
