    Penguin Update

Jill, I was kinda bummed to hear that you had to have the dang surgery in the first place. Glad to hear you're up and about, but do NOT push it. Healing after surgery (as you WELL know) can be critical to getting back where you were. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery, though, and...

    Oil on garage floor?

Guys (and gals), I found what appears to be some kind of an oily substance next to the sidecase on my bike (2005). I haven't ridden it for about two weeks, but there was a puddle of something there before, but I couldn't tell what it was. I put some newspaper down and let it sit for about...

    More riser info

Hey, everybody, Has anyone tried the SW-Motech risers for an '05? They look interesting... Jim Yes, I'm still on the perpetual hunt for perfection (for me, anyway).

    Blingalicious!

Whoa...GORGEOUS! But, who has time for that? :P While they look terrific, I think Carla needs to get out and ride more...(pot, kettle, black...you know). I think she has WAY too much time on her hands! I've never washed my bike in the 2.5 years I've had it. (Okay, I've cleaned it, but...

Denver passes noise ordinance affecting bikers

Yes, loud pipes are annoying, and I don't think an ordinance like this is going to go away anytime soon. It IS, probably, a growing trend in the city. My wife and I go to an outside upscale mall once in a while (no, we're not upscale, but there's a couple of restaurants we like to eat at...

    Sap removal

John T... Just had the same issue with my cage. I park under a tree as well, so I took it in to have it waxed (I really don't have the time nor the inclination to do it myself). After it got waxed, I had the guy doing the detailing come up and ask if he could try some clay on it, so I said...

    Computer-related help

Guys, I could use some help. This is really beginning to drive me crazy. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with a Pentium M chip at 2GHz, with one gig of memory and a GeForce Go 6800 video card. Anyway, my Outlook started acting up and will NOT send or reply to any of my Inbox replies, even if I...

    Skyway's Sliders

Glenn, Since my bike is an '05, I had to find the instructions that went with the '03-05 (aka 1st Gen). I found them on the fjr1300.info site (good stuff there for older bikes). My torque values were 29 ft. lbs/40Nm. '07 torque values might have changed. You might want to just send an email...

The inevitable news I didn't want to hear....

Axeman, Thoughts and prayers along with a boatload of gratitude for your son serving this great nation. My step-son spent a year in Iraq as a Marine (deployed out of Camp Pendleton). God bless you and your son, and since I'm specific in my prayers, what's your son's name? My wife and I...

    Black Panels

Thanks for the help, guys... I ended up getting another well-nut, and a couple of hex bolts specifically for those panels. Once I figured out that the well-nut goes in first, then is covered by the fuel hose holder, I got it to work. It wasn't easy, because the well-nut sticks out the back...

    Black Panels

I can't seem to get the black panel on under the tank on the left side. Is there a trick to this? All the hex bolt does is turn and turn and turn and turn and...well, you get the idea. I can't get it to thread. I have made dang sure that everything is lined up; I start slow, and try to...

    Why

Why do I need to use dielectric grease or Vaseline on the terminals inside the Powerlet socket? Do I really need to do this, or are these instructions just for the do-it-yourself Powerlet socket makers? Will current still run through the socket if I do this? TIA... Jim

    Need a little help

Anyone got pics of their Powerlet routing for an '05 rearset? The instruction photo's are too small for me to figure ]out what's going on. TIA for any help... (I'm NOT a wrench, but I'm not afraid to tackle thngs, either...so if you have pics, it'd be most appreciated! Regards, Jim

    Powerlet install

(I posted this under Parts and Accessories but only got one response, so I thought I'd try here.) The instructions are confusing... to me anyway. To whit: Grab the socket end of the harness and start routing the harness by looping the wires down through the gap in the frame next to the...

    Powerlet Rearset Install

So... Do I run the harness into the hole next to the VIN number, then sticking it up through the hole in the frame somewhere underneath, followed by under the rubber cover (which I found) on the right side of the bike as you sit on it? Doesn't appear to be very easy to do...lots of wires in...

    Powerlet Rearset Install

Well, they are to me anyway. To whit: Grab the socket end of the harness and start routing the harness by looping the wires down through the gap in the frame next to the steering head. What does looping the wires mean? Lift up the rubber cover [E] on the engine side of the frame to receive...
