    Angeles Crest Highway.....

I rode this last Wednesday, and am doing it again tomorrow, one week later. Living in the Ontario area, I can be in Wrightwood in 45 minutes. I will meet my Brother riding down from Santa Barbara for Breakfast in Wrightwood at 0930, and do the entire route to the 210, and back be home by 1230...

    Front leg maintenance

Good job. I do not tackle stuff like this myself but admire anyone who does. All I do is change my oil, shaft fluid, flushed my coolant, brake fluid, air filter, and tires myself. I'm also excited about Spring. It's been cold here for my area, down into the 50's and 60's during the day. 70's...

    THAT is a YAMAHA?!?

Wow I do not even remember the year. It was right before the waer pumpers came out. Single rear shick. Maybe 1980?

    THAT is a YAMAHA?!?

I have to say out of all the bikes I have had, the FJR is by FAR my favorite. This is the first bike I have put this many miles on (only 25K so far), and I have zero desire to replace it. I suspect I will keep it until if/when Yamaha decides to really upgrade the FJR. Even then, not sure I...

    In SoCal here

I usually looking to ride up in the local Mountains. 38, 138, 2, 330, and PCH all come to mind. Stay in touch... Ken in Ontario

Will be riding with these tires for an 800 mile trip - would you?

I must be lucky as well. I too ride one up, and am not light at 235 lbs. I ride a TON of twisties here in Southern California, with HWY's 2, 38, 138, 18, 330, 74, and many many other incredible Mountain roads less than one hr from me, not to mention Pacific Coast Hwy less than an hour away. I...

Tall Yamaha Shield and Topcase Added

Hey Kyle. How much different is the new Yamaha shield compared to the stock one as far as wind protection and noise? I am 6'3. Thanks...

How old are you FJR riders?

47, and never ride two up. 100% solo

    Tire wear.

I too get great miles out of my tires. I got 9600 out of the original set, both front and rear were about even. I have PR2's now, and have 8,000 miles on them and they look like I will get another 1 or 2 k easy. I live 20 minutes from the Mountains, and spend a lot of time riding in the...

    Local rider gives an evaluation

Not for me. I'm 6'3, and it is plenty big for my frame even at 240 lbs. I have never felt crampted on this bike like so many others. just my 2 cents...

    Ride Saturday December 6th to

Saw a fellow FJR rider heading to the show on the 710 FWY Southbound Saturday morning around 10:00AM. We waved and I'm sure he was headed to the show. It was a Black 08. I was on an 06A model. Anyone here fit that description that morning?

    Going to the Dark Side

OC, I too can get 10,000 miles out of a set of tires, and I do ride mostly all mountains. If I was only getting 3,000 miles out of my tires, perhaps I would try something esle like a harder tire. A car tire? Probably not for me, but to each their own. I do not baby the tires, but subscribe to...

So Cal - Who was it on a blue 2005 or 2006?

    Probably me. I was headed to a buddies house. It's a 2006A!

    FJR cornering capabilities

I had the same issue. I am 6'3, 240, and seemed to have the same issue with feeling a little mushy and wallowed a little coming into turns at a fast pace. I too listed to Jeff's advice and cranked up the front and rear settings, and this made a big difference. Also, tightened up the steering...

Does an 08 have a rev limiter

Brian I don't know that a Power commander would give you much additional RPM if any at all, but aside from that, there is not much you can do. These are not high revving machines by nature. Then again, with all the torque they make they dont need to rev that high to make tons of go power.

    Tourer

I must be one of the lucky ones. I have not had too much problem with the bike in 100% stock form (except I do like the PR2's so much better than the original tires). I bought a 2006A model brand new, and have put only 14K on it, but have taken several 1200-1800 mile three and four days rides...

    New Jacket for the FNG

I too have the Tourmaster Draft. Great in the high heat, and if it's cool in the morning you can always wear a layer under it. Here in Southern California, the heat is more of a concern for me than the cold. Very good protection, and as mentioned above, I got it for under $90.00 at Chaparral...

stuff you always have with you and where do you keep it?

I always carry a Surefire LED Flashlight, a high quality Knife (Emerson Tactical), and a Windmill lighter in addition to some of the items you mentioned. A high quality light should always be with you, a knife can not only save your life, but allow you to get a meal, and flame is needed in many...

    California Prices

Same place I bought my 2006 FJR1300A. I paid $12,999.00 OTD which was WAY cheaper than anyone else back then...
