    Stock seat mods

I took my 05 seat to Sargent Cycle in Jacksonville and had them put their Super Foam in the stock shape and cover. Much better as long as the shape of the stock seat is to your liking. Cheap too.

How would you rate FJR's suspension?

I would rate the rear as marginal at best. Lets face it two settings does not give you much in the way of options. The front is not bad for a stock unit. A shock upgrade to the rear will probably be my next and last farkle on my 05. This is a great bike and a shock upgrade to the rear would...

    Brake Shudder

Had a similar problem on my 05 and suspected warped rotors also. I decided to give the pads and rotors a good cleaning with brake cleaner to see if it would help. Lo and behold, good as new! Worth a try. Pull the calipers off and flush everything real good, wipe down rotors, etc. Good luck.

    Considering a new seat

If you like the shape of the stock seat, just send it to Sargent and have them put in thier foam with your seat covering. Cheap and you get a great seat that will not get soft after 1000 miles. I had the front done on my bike for about $125. Sargent service is the best.

    hard grips

BMW Grips and you will not need cushioning. The best $25 farkle on your bike. IMHO of course.

    Riding shorts, anyone tryed these??

I have a pair of the LD shorts and like them. My only complaint is they are a little "thick" as in the weight of the material. Prefer Under Armor or similar due to the smooth material that slides under jeans. The LD's are a little spendy, but the quality seems to support the cost. Good luck.

    Dealing with the dealers

I agree with Radman. Its hard for a dealer to take a customer seriously over the phone when they won't even come into your dealership to discuss the purchase. Agree his original dealer F'd him around, but thats life. It all worked out and he got a bike at a good price.

    R1le V. Mv Augusta F4 V. K1200s

How about the new MV Agusta Brutale 910? 130+ HP, very exclusive. Pretty much guaranteed not to see another one at the DQ Bike Night. What do you think FJRZON! There you go stirring the pot again! :P

    Cycle World -or- Motorcyclist?

Lets see, for about the price of a two 20 oz cokes a month at your local convenience store, this is a no brainer, get both! MCN is a great magazine, but has its share of BS articles like any other mag. Subscribe to as many of them as you can and be well informed from all view points. When the...

    Aerostitch

IMHO the Aerostitch is first class quality, but like Snap-On, not cheap but an investment. Also live in FL, and feel venting is ok up to about the upper 80's, after that is a little warm. I did have some leaking at the zipper in the first rain storm so need to do a little work there, but...

    2006 R1 vs R1LE

December Cycle World has a pretty good write-up on the R1 LE. From the article they were pretty impressed. :)

    2006 R6 audio

This bike is currently #1 on my lust list. Have talked to a number of dealers and would like to get an Anniversary model. All stealers are playing the "Well its very lmiited availability on the R6 this year, blah, blah... Called D&H but unfortunately they don't have any more Yellow/Black...

    Y.E.S. in FL - WTF?

     Just called D&H to get the excellent deal they offer on the YES and was told they can not sell to anyone in FL due to a FL state law requiring it be purchased from a dealer in the State of FL. Is this true, and if so, has anyone figured a way to get...

Covering Your FJR At Work, School, Etc...

Just ride it. Seriously carrying a cover around is a pain in the ass. If someone wants to steal it, they will. If it gets dusty, it will blow off on the way home. For all other stuff thats why you have insurance. But if you feel better, cover it up. IMHO its not worth the effort. Just my 2 cents.

    Aerostich Roadcrafter 1 Piece Suit

Just finished my first trip with my one piece Roadcrafter and echo the thougths of others on this site. Also bought mine at the store and can not rave enough about the service of the staff plus you save 10% and have free shipping. As for sizing, I went with a differnt size than had I ordered...

Tail Of The Dragon- Deal's Gap N.C.

Black Mamba, just finished a few days in the Boone area and agree you have one fine area to ride up there. The road from Linville to Boone rocks. As for the Dragon, stay off it Friday - Sunday. There are a lot of roads as good or better in the immediate area that are a lot less congested.

    Motorcyclist

I am a big MC mag fan but even I have to admit, this was the weakest issue yet. Agree with the thought behind the 3-bike test, WTF. Unfortunately I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that now days, about 2-3 companies own every magazine out there. Have you noticed all Primedia mags...

    How To Avoid Monkey Butt

Gold Bond J&J Baby Powder seem to work as good as Monkey Butt Powder. Have used bicycle shorts, Under Armor and LD Comfort Shorts and all work great if you adhere strongly to those with NO SEAMS on the seat. LD shorts are a little thicker but work great. B)

    Carbone Lorrain Sbk Brake Pads

I went with the lines and CL pads and speed bleeders. Overall better feel but my opinion is that it is more to do with the lines not expanding like rubber ones do than the pads.
