Amazing tools, gadgets, and accessories for motorcycles~My list

Good suggestions here. Also, I ground most of the head off a spare key, and taped it to a spot on the frame with black electrical tape. If you do it cleanly, no one would ever notice it. There if you need it, always.

    GPS Tablet

I use a similar mount as Mike rider, but I use a NEXUS 7" tablet, with CO-Pilot. The NEXUS has a built-in GPS radio, no need for any cell service anywhere. I've had this waaaay out in the middle of nowhere (Anza-Borrego Desert) and no probs navigating to within inches. Only difficulty I've...

    Small Magnetic Tank Bag recomendations

+2 on checking the bag. A few strategically placed pieces of blue painters tape on a clean tank will help at the mag points. I may, however, go to 3M clear protective film for this purpose. I also run the Cortech super mini, and the flapping rubber gab handle actaully effed up the paint on my...

Valve - type noise at 2,500 rpms specifically 2006

Many thanks to all of you for the input. Just got the bike back from Yama, covering some recall stuff. BTW, on Long Island, I took it to Maximum Motor Sports in Riverhead. They sorted two recalls (ignition switch and ground spider), gave me an inspection and sent me on my way without one word...

Valve - type noise at 2,500 rpms specifically 2006

Yes, just picked it up from second owner. Obviously very lightly used by both po's! Bike is immaculate, I've just got to iron this out, and then start piling on some miles.

Valve - type noise at 2,500 rpms specifically 2006

Thanks for the input guys. I'll try the video thing, and I appreciate the other ideas. I think I'll do the oil/filter, air filter, NGK Iridiums, and then check again. Cam tensioner seems unlikely, considering when/how it occurs, but we'll see.

Valve - type noise at 2,500 rpms specifically 2006

Hey everyone, possible problem, hopefully no big deal. My 2006 has 7,500 miles and its developed a loose valve , tapping kind of noise at between 2,300 to 2,500 rpms. No bad manners, no obvious problems other than the noise. Any ideas?

Gents - I really appreciate the info, and the references. This will enable me to educate myself, instead of diving in blindly, which is never good. Thanks all!

Wiring Hella FF50's to highbeam switch?

I had my Hellas wired up to the highbeam switch on my Gen 1, but only used them intermittently, as I was concerned about draw. I now have a Gen 2, and want the same setup. Do you think its a poor idea to run them that way for an extended period? Or is it fine, if the current isn't running...

First Gen 2003 FJR for sale 18k miles

Just scored a very nice 2nd Gen, so my First Gen is being moved out. Very nice bike, I am the third owner, it's only got 18k miles. It's got some farkles, my loss, your gain: dual heated Corbin (I will really miss this), risers, MCL highway pegs, drop passenger pegs, ehxhaust shields, bar ends...
