Can "tallish" people ride an FJR comfortably?

Right. During my short BMW experiment, my 1150 GSA was in the shop for repairs and they gave me a loner RT12. Nice friggen bike on the highway. Best wind and weather protection I've ever experienced. The continual issues with my BMW made me sell it within 2 years and I focused on my FJR. Will...

Can "tallish" people ride an FJR comfortably?

I'm 6'4" on an 03, about 220lbs without gear, 95k miles on the bike. Genmar risers, corbin seat with beads and sometimes an alaskan leather sheepskin over and I'm good for left coast and back rides. Comfortably get to west Idaho from Maine in 3 easy days. This bike makes that possible for me...

    Rear Wheel fitment

Huh! I assumed right off that the spacer would not be the same width as the abs sensor housing, which appears to provide the spacing. I just ordered bearings and the seals which means I can just pick up an ABS wheel and install my new seal. Thank you much for pointing me in the right...

    Rear Wheel fitment

Ah, sorry for the bandwidth. I was just comparing wheels between the 05 and 03 on the fiche. No can do.

    Rear Wheel fitment

Howdy, My trusty 03 needs new rear wheel bearings. I don't blame her as the stockers lasted about 95k. As usual the problem cropped up a week, or so before a joy ride to the south lands of the US. I had quite a bit of trouble getting the 3 splash ring retainer screws out so I could pull the...

2009 Iron Butt Rally - Official Daily Reports

This is great news! I met them both at the MM1k rally earlier this year. What an awesome pair of people. Completely dug the bike choices too.

2009 Iron Butt Rally - Official Daily Reports

Chris is fine. He's scored and his opinion is that he held his standings. I have no news on any finisher status. I got this from his wife and hope to talk to him later today after he's gotten his stuff done. This is very cool and I'm looking forward to getting him safely back here to Maine...

To Cali I go (Camping Info)

Yeah, I'll be here working after shooting my vacation wad for the next few months. I got yard space for tents. There's a good bit of tools available in my garage too if you need something by then. I rode around downtown Frisco for a couple hours week before last. Rode across the GG bridge and...

    03 running sick

Thanks sir. That will give me some forehand knowledge when talking to the mechanic after the install. Much appreciated.

    03 running sick

Well whatdyaknow... I get a break. The TPS hasn't been addressed on this particular beast. Dealer ordered part and will get it installed. Might fix the problem but it sure is a nice place to start. Question about the TPS unit on this bike. Is it adjustable? (I need to get a service manual).

    03 running sick

I agree with what you're saying. It feels like a richness problem when it begins to run rough. The bike definitely feels as if it is loading up. The TPS may only fix part of the problem. I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow. This bike ran perfectly in Maine and most of my riding there was...

To Cali I go (Camping Info)

It was a good ride with virtually no mishaps. Had a Montana trooper light me up going in the other direction but he was just letting me know I was doing 80 in a 70. Never did come back for me. Bike had some issues running but I'll work on getting that sorted. I have to say that in all the...

    03 running sick

I've been considering the TPS because of the on/off reaction near closed throttle. I'll certainly give the dealer a try concerning the tech bulletin as I bought this bike used about 20k miles ago. Thank you, I appreciate the response.

    03 running sick

Howdy, I got back off a little ride last night. The FJR's were certainly well represented across the Cascade Highway. Crossed paths with a number of you. It was hot on this ride. I was in Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington. My bike was experiencing a problem that really isn't...

    Decent mileage figures

38/42 just like always. 5th gear? yeah... yeah... it's in use. :P I can see 40mpg at 10 over the speed limit (75) here. Those speeds won't even get you a second look. My run the other night was for a little over one hour and I never saw another vehicle on the road. No, I won't be ripping...

To Cali I go (Camping Info)

Cool. I'll do the research. Maybe a good idea to pull up short on the Nevada side. Would hate to end a big day being stuck for a place to crash. Thanks man.

To Cali I go (Camping Info)

Thanks guys. Yeah, figured I'd run up against the masses. I'll take my chances and it'll work out. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

To Cali I go (Camping Info)

Hey all, I'm looking for a little inside info. I'm firing up the FJR and riding down from Helena Montana on the 25th of June. I plan to ride straight through to Markleeville, or thereabouts. Guess you can call this the going home ride. They say you can't ever go home again but I've 7 days to...

    Decent mileage figures

I would be too. That's impressive. What are you running for an exhaust? I've never been known to get good mileage so my figures from the test run are pretty good with me. I'm heading out on a 3500 mile trip on the FJR in a couple weeks and I'm going to be in Nevada for a bunch of it. Relying on...

    Decent mileage figures

Bikes are going in the trailer and in the bed of the truck. I do have a nice little Dakota that could use a driver. Believe me, there's not going to be much fun there.
