Radiohowie is BACK after 2 months gone!

Sorry to arrive late to this party Howie. Remember, just like those gloves Tiffany wears, our brains are plastic. Keep at it and you will continue to improve your condition (disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, I just saw one on TV). If I were you I'd spend the time on the stationary bike thinking...

I was dumb. Any pointers on a tire replacement in southern Utah or N. Arizona?

Gotta tell you Ross, if you ever need to lie low there's no better place than Cedar City, UT on a Sunday evening!

I was dumb. Any pointers on a tire replacement in southern Utah or N. Arizona?

Sorry for my absence (busy travel days and all that). Here's the update: After whiling away a quiet Sunday night in Cedar City I made some calls first thing Monday morning. I found a 190-55 PR2 at Moto Zoo in St. George. They said they couldn't mount it for me, so after riding the 60 miles...

I was dumb. Any pointers on a tire replacement in southern Utah or N. Arizona?

No luck with Duck Creek Yamaha. It sounded like they would do the installation but they don't have tires. I've made my way to Cedar City (on Duck Creek's advice) in the hopes of finding a tire and an installer tomorrow morning (funny, not much business being done in Utah on a Sunday...). I've...

I was dumb. Any pointers on a tire replacement in southern Utah or N. Arizona?

Great find, Ross. I'll call Duck Creek Yamaha first thing in the morning and hope they can help out. Thanks to all for your helpful replies. Even just the confirmation of what I thought I knew (i.e. that I'm screwed) is helpful.

Funny, but the "Amazing Goop" option crossed my mind earlier today. Thanks for your reply and the pointers!

I was dumb. Any pointers on a tire replacement in southern Utah or N. Arizona?

Long story short, I overestimated the remaining life of my rear tire, thinking it would get me from Alberta to Phoenix. It won't. I'm in La Verkin, Utah with the first threads of the carcass starting to show through. I'm on a fairly tight schedule with a flight home booked and traveling...

    RIP Beemerdons

I'm very late in coming to learn of Don's death (I've been pulled away from the forum by other things for the better part of a year or so). This is not what I expected or hoped to find when I returned. Needless to say I join the chorus of members keeping fond memories of Don alive. I never...

    Heavy ...

Agreed. Good thing mcatrophy was at the point of no return less about 3 microns (by the sound of it). Good save MC!

    OUCH.

On the question of vinyl vs. leather, etc.: As others have said elsewhere, the RDL vinyl is a thick, high-quality vinyl, not the cheap stuff they make toddlers' ball gloves out of. Very happy with mine.

    The FJR Bird Strike Poll

Reading this thread I have to conclude that the biggest threat to our safety on the FJR is not forest rats, but wild turkeys! Last September while riding through the BC interior, my wife on the back was confused to hear me exclaim "Oh... turkey, turkey, turkey, turkey!" (you have to imagine the...

    The FJR Bird Strike Poll

Just in an effort to keep you out of the radar of law enforcement (or to put you in it, depending on your answer)... You're talking about baby birds, right?

Antilock brakes on a motorcycle = awesome!

This is true, but just remember that while your bike may have ABS, you don't! Oh, and neither does your passenger, as my wife likes to remind me. Yet another good reason they use those nylon bolts on the windshield.

    Latest MCN review

Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding!!!! And there we have it, folks! There are riders here at double that weight or more (some with pillion, some without). As a percentage of GVW the rider(s) are significant, I think. I haven't crunched my numbers but at 168 lbs I'm on the lighter side and tend to get...

    Latest MCN review

Don't underestimate the importance of rider dimensions and their role in ergonomics/comfort. My only modification affecting riding position is a Russell seat (no bar risers, no peg lowering, etc.) and I find the fit and comfort to be perfect. That may have something to do with my 6'2 wingspan...

    Sharing a few thoughts

Younger riders? It's us younger shmuks who have to work full-time and wish we could be on a bike more. You wanna see some big miles, talk to the older, wiser, retired guys. We have to live vicariously through them!

    Rough Riders

I did a trip last year that took us through Glacier National Park before turning north to come home to Alberta. When we crossed the border from Montana to Alberta at Chief Mountain there was such a stark difference in the quality of the pavement (yours is better!) that it was hard to believe...

    New Knees?

Just chiming in to give you more food for thought Don. I happened to be playing golf with a business acquaintance (I think about 65 yrs old|) this week who had both knees replaced at the same time about a year or year and a half ago. He too said that he regretted not having it done sooner and...

    Advice for cold weather

Jasen, do you have to lie down beside your bike to plug in or is the cord long enough that you can stay warm standing beside it while it's napping? (sorry...couldn't resist!)
