    AE jerking me around

Yeah, thanks. I eventually had the problem return. After paying the Yamaha dealer to replace the clutch. When the service tech told me I'd just have to live with the studdering on cold start-n-go situations, and that I should let it warm up fully before taking off. This worked until I got...

New Haynes Manual Available for 2001-2010 FJR1300

I received my Haynes manual today from Whitehorse Press. It appears to be the same book that Mcatrophy has, which was published in 2013. My book shows the same wiring diagram with the mis-labeled cruise control cancel switch. So this book is not really "New" except to Whitehorse Press who...

Grip warmer fuse location on AE

Well that worked for a while. Now both grip heaters are dead. I opened up the OEM switch by flipping the left panel out and over. Running a test lead from ground to the brown wire going into the grip hearer controller, I found it to be getting fed with power with the motor running, but the...

I still don't understand my AE and finding neutral

All I do is walk up to the bike, reach down with my thumb and press on the shift actuator arm, sliding forward one click and bingo, it's in neutral. No need to power up the bike. The actuator arm linkage connector has a black rubber boot on it. That is where you press. It is located right...

    AE jerking me around

After a FULL test ride today I am happy to report that the AE is back to normal with zero studdering on cold takeoff. Smoooth as it ever was. The Clutch Bleed and Flush did the trick.

    AE jerking me around

Well I think I have my AE fixed now. I did a fluid flush on the clutch and it takes off fine now. First I changed to 10w40 dino oil from yammy. That made no difference at all. Then after reading on the forum a bit more I decided to flush the DOT 4 fluid out of the clutch system to see what...

    AE jerking me around

Well, I called my dealer service dept. to confirm that my bike has had the shift actuator recall update, and he assured me that my bike had that before I bought it new from them. We discussed the studdering on cold start and told me that that was due to cold oil effecting the clutch actuation...

    AE jerking me around

My 2006 AE is doing this now with 26000 miles on it. I will try the Mity-Vac bleed and see if that fixes it. Have you fixed yours yet? -Sirby

Grip warmer fuse location on AE

BramFrank and all, Thanks for the feedback on my failed grip warmers. I took a look at the right twist grip assembly and found a piece of the cable leading to the right grip was protruding from the seam between the two halves of the cable escutchen enclosure! Like a HERNIA, the half inch of...

Grip warmer fuse location on AE

Thanks for the tip. I was afeared that might be the issue. I'll see if I can get to the switch and check the circuits. If anyone has some AE model specific experience with this issue I would love to hear from you. -Sirby

Gen II Sargent seat and Large CalSci Windscreen

oooh, that's the same size as mine. I was hoping it was taller as mine does not quite cover me as much as I'd like. I'll probably order an extra large one. If it helps anyone, I am a 6 footer with a 30" inseam and this size almost eliminates all air turbulence around me but not quite...

Gen II Sargent seat and Large CalSci Windscreen

Thanks! My Cal Sci is getting old. What is the top to bottom dimention of the screen? Here are the stats from their site: Large 2006++3.5" = +9cm24.5"15"$185 Height/width low/width high I want to know how it compares to mine. I don't know which one I have for sure. How many inches from...

    Maybe Baby

I think I saw you heading south. I was northbound on my silver-blue '06 AE. I got some white swan pictures. The poor Snow Geese behind "Snow Goose Produce" were not to pretty in the mud they prefer. I saw a tree full of eagles in a backyard tree north of there on the way into Edison. My grip...
